Born on the streets of Port-au-Prince, Emmanuel and his brother Luckson fell in with a local Zobop krewe at a young age, running odd jobs and keeping a lookout for the krewe. When Emmanuel Emerged, those odd jobs escalated to keeping a handle on things in the Matrix, a much needed service for an organization so lacking in Matrix talent.
Although Emmanuel Emerging meant he'd never be able to call upon the loa in the same way the Zobop's houngans did, that didn't stop him from being a devout believer in Vodou. Papa Legba is master of the crossroads, after all, and what is the Matrix but the crossroad between the physical world and the Resonance?
He and his brother worked their way up the ranks of the Port-au-Prince Zobop, but that came to a violent end when a hitman blew a hole through Luckson's head right in front of Emmanuel. The killer was able to cover most of his tracks, but enough traces of evidence were left online to point Emmanuel towards Seattle. And so he went on the hunt, as soon as he got permission from his krewe's boss, leaving Haiti for the first time in his life on a hunt for revenge.
