Trapped in a nightmare of a foundation. |
Summary
The Johnson has come to the runners in order to have a militant Humanis member removed and replaced with one of their own. The team quickly begins establishing surveillance over the target for the 3 days requested by the J before they perform a foundation dive in order to acquire secretive information regarding the target. Once they've raided and wrought havoc upon the Humanis host's foundation, they return to the meat world where they hijack the target's car before replacing the target.
Background
The J has identified a militant member of Humanis that they would like to remove from the world and replace with one of their own agents.
The Meet
The team arrives to the meet. Introduce themselves, and the J begins explaining the job that the team needs 3 days of surveillance and to seamlessly replace their target. They negotiate for access to bioware and common drones.
The Plan
The team makes some disguises and makes their way over to Westwood. Once they arrive outside the gated community, Trades sends in her flyspy and performs a sweep before infiltrating the building through the crawlspace under the floorboards. Hidden amdidst the flower garden, Trades breaks a hole and sends in her drone. She's able to detect a doggo running around on the floor above as well as spotting a few cameras. Geodesic breaks into the host while Digifex and their sprite is bullied by the host's defenses. Koi is able to break into the host, and eventually, Digifex's sprite is able to sneak in. Once the team is in, they find the watcher patrol paths and Geodesic uses her Editor to break into the file and abscond with the data. The team disables the motion sensors on the wall while Koi hops the fence (Literally, those hydraulic jacks are stronk). She taps her deck to the maglock and begins hacking her way in.
Once Koi is inside the house, she starts sneaking around the doggo in order to hack the cameras and download their recorded footage. She plants a camera in the bedroom and Trades sticks her flyspy to the bottom of the bed and sets it to go wirelessly check in once an hour on the 43rd minute. Koi exfiltrates from the house. Afterwards, Koi contacts Vega and receives some additional info while Trades calls Norville to borrow some flyspys. She swings by the Chef to fill her vault of ages in exchange for some karma.
The team splits up. Geodesic and Digifex work to hack the target's commlink while Trades and Koi prepare to break into the Docwagon host in order to gain access to his work projects. Geodesic and Digifex valiantly struggle against the target's fairlight caliban until they are able to wrestle away the target's data. Meanwhile, Trades and Koi break into the host and quickly snatches the target's work projects. The team deploys an additional flyspy into the docwagon building and prepares for the foundation dive. Trades asks The Chef for a couple of buffs in exchange for a point of karma and a chip.
The Run
The team sneaks a data tap onto a camera in order to get a mark to flow up to the host. The team assembles inside the host and performs a matrix search in order to find the gateway before they begin gaining the MARKs in order to make the transition into the foundation. Trades gains a mark with Koi's help and bootlegs Hitchhiker so they'll be able to enter. Before the duo makes their way inside of the gateway, they help the others gain their marks and they make the jump into the foundation.
Trades and Koi awaken in a field outside the castle where they can see a war camp and a road leading towards the castle. After Koi relishes the sensation of grass and the feeling of their limbs they eventually begin making their way towards the castle.
Geodesic awakens to find themselves in a tent on the battlements with a bowl of soup sitting in front of them. Soon after, a soldier enters and begins briefing Geodesic as a seargant. They explain the political landscape before Geodesic begins examining their ranging tables. Appalled at their inaccuracy they begin applying their advanced mathematical knowledge in order to create more accurate tables. Quickly, as one, the other people inside the tent turn to stare unblinkingly at Geodesic until they scratch out the offending equations. Eventually, they decide that they'd like to investigate the elven encampment and begin heading north.
Digifex awakens inside the scaffolding node where they briefly, but unsuccessfully attempt to ponder the orb inside the scaffolding node. Soon, they descend down to meet the king and inform that they must seek out some people they saw in a dream. The king informs Fexidige that the sergeant of the battery has departed to investigate the elven encampment. Quickly, on the way towards they spot a woman with a floppy scholar's hat who introduces themself as Geodesmus. Geodesic recognizes Digifex's Human form and greets them before inviting them to join them on their expedition towards the elven encampment.
The camera pans back to Koi and Trades who are walking along the road. The surrounding tradesfolk walk in a tense silence while they watch for a danger they know is approaching. Trades and Koi briefly discuss the atmosphere before a small band of elves attacks them. Trades and Koi begin running like the wind along the line of people. Along the way, Koi spots Team absolutely starts screwing with the host. Create a big ass chasm, Make eleves the coolest. Bring the portal node bring the archive node.
Unceremoniously kidnapping the dude's car and bringing it into a covert place and then we take him out.
Aftermath
Narrative Consequences:
The Humanis Policlub of Downtown Seattle has had its host's foundation paradigm screwed up with rules like: "There's a big ass chasm surrounding the master node," "People enter the foundation on the other side of the chasm from the Master Node," "The archive. Is a tome. Specifically. A tome of medieval mathematics," "The portal node. Is a doorway. In the Throne Room," "put a big ass chasm around us (The master node)," and "Elves rule and physics drool."

Game Quotes
Player After Action Reports (AARs)
"I'm going to burn that organization to it's dreking core. We did the job, well done. Not a thing wrong with all of my specialists I was working with, but I will never stop until that place is a pit of slag." - Koi
Digifex - "Any run against Humanis is a run for me. Hell of a Foundation they got there, would be interesting to explore if it wasn't predicated on racist ideology."
Geodesic - "Mmm. Very... interesting. Finding two others of my kind. Stuck on a job together. And, well. Fragging embarrassing. That the changeling saw through it. So easily. Frowning face. Digifex makes me. Nervous. In his dogma. I'm likely an aberration. I need to be careful. Still. The job went off well. Smiling face. It's been a long while. Since I've so totally dominated. The information game. On a target. Of course. I have to give credit to the others. They are all cunning hackers. And that drone user... I should ask her sometime. About her tricks.
...It's always so strange. How the foundation seems to 'trick' my broken mind. Into ignoring the rot. I wonder what that means."
Trades - Standing in the heart of the foundation and working with the rest of the team to bend it to our will was an unparalleled feeling. I left an anchor here, but I'm not sure whether it'll be safe to return in the future with how badly we mangled the foundation's paradigm. At the very least, we've undermined Humanis' cybersecurity for awhile until they manage to retake the foundation and realign the attributes.
