A neighborhood directly against the Redmond/Bellevue wall is ripe for having the property values increased, but an unscrupulous J wants to drive them down quite a bit before making her initial investment.  Little does she know, this neighborhood is already in worse decline than anyone realizes due to a mysterious property that used to belong to EVO sitting at the end of the block. Runners get hired to drive down property values and uncover some nasty secrets, using them to drive values down and finding a little good to do on a relatively bad job.

A few years ago things started shifted, the block that was always loosely crush controlled got picked up by the 144 Posse,  a Crimson Crush sub gang/recruiting outfit.  At the same time, a building that housed at least one runner in the past went dark 3-4 years ago, and the uptick in gang activity started almost immediately.  More recently, the residents have noticed periodic ghoul infestations that come and go, as the working class folks in the neighborhood dissapear, get infected, or move away.

The meet was at Alfies, a complete shithole in Northern Touristville that nearly shut down years ago until Docwagaon moved a transportation and emergency substation in next door. Now the place has access to enough occasional limbs and flesh that sentient ghouls will pay the 10 dollar two drink minimum to hang out until they can get a hand, or a foot.


Ms. K meets everyone in person with an enforcer bodyguard behind her and breaks down the job.  The team negotiates for some optional payments and a bonus structure and managed to not embarrass themselves despite being a fairly mohawk team composition.

The team ran some basic matrix searches and hit some very strong pre-existing knowledge of the neighborhood.  Finding out the gang may have a Yakuza connection from the other side of the Bellevue wall for Betameth.  After heading over to the neighborhood and reconning to see how things were, the plan eventually became to barnstorm.  There was a secondary plan to use the local ghoul populace that got derailed in a few amusing and surprising ways.

The Northern Building was found to be far more problematic, Wraith and White Thistle remembering a troll runner once occupied the place who was well known for being an unscrupulous adept known for extractions and wetwork.  He disappeared about the same time that the building was sold by EVO to a private landlord. Investigation of this building revealed a F8 Ward, cameras and a turret just inside the front door, as well as potentially something generating serious noise or faraday like effects inside.  Deciding that was more than enough for the team to do bonus recon,  Wraith backed off when he saw the turrets and filed a report with a J, all while Alkali handled building #3 on the last day of the run.
 
Gang Properties: Buildings 1 and 3
After using a combination of Kanumushi, Spirit and Clairvoyant astral recon, the first westernmost buildings on the list were quickly identified as staples, and the 141 were far more busy and far more corruptive than the Crush had realized.  The front house was a betameth den, used as a recruiting center for a bunraku den in building #3 that was turning addicts into puppets when their debts got too high.
 
As soon as the team realized how bad the situation was, and how bad property values would be if this was simply shut down violently and exposed to the public, made a simple plan.  Kill all the gangers, and find support systems or new work for the victims of the bunraku den.  Thistle contacts Ghaz and gets the Bunraku (largely orks) set up with a safe house and recovery options in Skraacha territory, and Alkali getting the unchipped sex workers under the protection and employ of the Optimal Squid and the Seoulpa ring he's connected with, not an ideal life but a better life than they were living.  The team ultimately split into Black Dog and Alkali's frosty guardian spirit to building 3 to wipe out that gang, with Thistle, Wraith and Alkali. The gangers, largely Tl 4-5 Gangbangers and low rent bosses did not present much hassle to a team of highly trained runners.


Residential Nightmare: The team held out for last to go deal with the remaining residential folks in building #2, learning quickly that only 4 of the 12 units were still occupied.  Going to talk to residents the team realized that for a decent building it was sparsely populated.  The residents who answered informed fearfully that the gangs and ghoul problems had gotten bad enough that everyone was leaving already, and people had started getting sick recently, even though there had been less ghouls on the street or pushing into hallways at night.  Alkali, noticing something doesn't seem right with the woman assenses her, and realizes she's turning into a ghoul.  She politely informers her and her husband that they have been infected with HMMHV Strain 3 and there is likely no chance for recovery.  Ultimately the residents accept their fate,  working with Alkali and White Thistle to relocate to a warehouse in Tacoma that the Johnson Provided upon hearing about the situation.  The family they explained things to helped them explain to the rest of the building, almost all of them likely infected by a contaminated water supply at this point.  Thistle gets the families relocated to the new safe house and pledges to help them as best as she can through the next few weeks worth of ghoulish transition.

The 144 Boy are all but dead, a warehouse full of metahumans about to turn into ghouls have been moved into Tacoma, a  handful of Bunraku puppets are receiving skraaacha assistants while the Seoulpa ring acquires a few new assets.  Property values are absolutely going down in the neighborhood.


Rusty, a KE supernatural detective, profiled Black Dog as a potential infected and has his rank 3 sin on file with drone pictures of black dog as well as the psychometric impression of Black Dog's work in the warehouse, and is aware of the happenings in the neighborhood otherwise.  He is looking into these events and the warded building now that things have been brought to his attention.
The team gets paid, amd Ms. K is making purchase offers and putting together a slightly upgraded team to explore the final building on the block.

Summary

A neighborhood directly against the Redmond/Bellevue wall is ripe for having the property values increased, but an unscrupulous J wants to drive them down quite a bit before making her initial investment. Little does she know, this neighborhood is already in worse decline than anyone realizes due to a mysterious property that used to belong to EVO sitting at the end of the block. Runners get hired to drive down property values and uncover some nasty secrets, using them to drive values down and finding a little good to do on a relatively bad job.

Background
