As the largest of the Japanocorps in San Francisco, MCT watched Oakland’s metahuman population expand throughout the bay area with trepidation.  Though the Japanocorps remained officially neutral during the Protectorate, everyone knows that they provided Saito tacit support.  General metahuman opinion of MCT ranges from dislike to outright hostility; a metahuman majority San Francisco would threaten MCT’s dominance and potentially provide an opening for Ares Macrotechnology to expand their influence from Silicon Valley.  MCT won’t sit idly and watch, they want to return to their former position of power under the Protectorate, but avoid the extreme animosity that caused the metahuman resistance to form in the first place.  Therefore, MCT is seeking ways to increase the Japanocorp’s influence and build a positive image without angering the entire city.

Repression is the only lasting philosophy. The dark deference of fear and slavery... will keep the dogs obedient to the whip. - Charles Dickens

Summary

Colonel Saito’s brutal protectorate may be gone, but it’s legacy is far from forgotten for the denizens of San Francisco.  Throughout Saito’s years of oppression and war crimes against metahumans, Oakland never gave up the fight.  Nowhere is that spirit more apparent than the Oakland Terminators urban brawl team.  They may not be the best in the North American Urban Brawl League (NAUBL), but they are tenacious and entertaining. As a result, the Terminators are quickly gaining popularity in San Francisco, bringing money and influence to Oakland.  But the Japanocorps aren’t going to surrender influence over the city so easily.  With the formation of the MCT-backed San Francisco Reapers urban brawl team, the fight for the hearts and minds of the bay area has begun.

Background

The Oakland Terminators aren’t the best urban brawlers, but frag it they are Oakland’s brawlers.  Formed during the Japanese Imperial State’s (JIS) occupation of San Francisco after metahumans were mass-deported to Oakand, the team represents the east bay on a world stage normally denied to them by the JIS.  The influence and goodwill brought by the Terminators made the team popular with the anti-japanese resistance movement, so much so that the metahuman people’s army (MPA) is a major team sponsor.  Following Saito’s defeat in 2067, the Terminators have expanded their fanbase throughout San Francisco.

Half-way around the world, the MCT-sponsored Düsseldorf Cyberzombies urban brawl team is making waves in the German Urban Brawl League.  Riding high on a top tier finish for three years running, the team is looking to continue that success by expanding into another league.  Seeing an opportunity, MCT agrees to sponsor another team in San Francisco to target taking the Terminators’ spot in the NAUBL and build popularity in the bay area.  The San Francisco Reapers enter the North American urban brawl scene with a strong roster of 2nd string german brawlers and an experienced Cyberzombies head coach.

MCT and the Reapers must ensure that their own hands remain clean, but that doesn’t mean they will play fair with the Terminators.  Long-time allies of the Japanocorps, the local Yakuza (Karatsa-gumi) are called in to make life hard for the Terminators.  But Oakland isn’t going to go quietly; the MPA won’t rest until MCT’s schemes are foiled for good.
