Paul Emmers was once known as the kind of guy you didn't want your daughter to get mixed up with. Born to affluent but largely absentee parents, Paul's aggressive streak combined with a desire for attention to produce a toxic mix of recklessness and thrill-seeking. He slid into BTLs and racing, and his playboy attitude and skill at all getting a chunk of metal to zip down a track at unreasonable speeds gave him a high-profile life in the fast lane. As the years and nuyen went by, last year's audacious became this year's blasé, and Paul began to chase an ever-more-impossible ideal of speed and daring. After a particularly narrow escape from a fiery crash, Emmers must have had a brief consultation with Death himself, as the young man finally saw where his path was inevitably leading. He cleaned himself up and turned his racing addiction into the engine of his success. The black market racing bike pipeline he'd spent years cobbling together was transformed into a quasi-legal manufacturing company for the high-end market, with a company-sponsored race team, of course. Paul could sate his appetite vicariously without risking his own hide, and the money began to flow the other direction, right into his pockets.

Overview

Today Paul's shop is a Bellevue icon, with its grungy vibe belying a meticulously kept, upscale bike shop. Wealthy customers can walk in the door, fulfill their desire to slum it up with a savage bike, all without actually getting their hands dirty. And for those who know exactly how many kilos a Kaburaya can carry before the gecko grips tear the plascrete off a wall? Well, let's just say that Paul knows a guy.

Trivia

Paul still cultivates his bad-boy image, as he has found it works wonders at both prying nuyen from edgy youths as well as providing a facade for negotiating with "suppliers".

Paul doesn't actually have much skill with riding bikes anymore. This is partially from years of substance abuse but also a conscious choice to avoid temptation. If you see him on his Mirage, you can be sure it's actually running off GridGuide.
