Summary
The party was tasked to voluntarily extract a scientist at an oil rig for Shiawase. With the use of spirits and Trades' hacking, they got on the oil rig but was faced with opposition. Sticks and Stryker managed to get the scientist and run off, while Zan Zan faced the guards with Trades' support. When they escaped, the scientist wanted to go to the Genesis Consortium instead so his research would be put to use. He went to Shiawase, but the research went to Genesis Consortium.
Background
Universal Omnitech occasionally dabbles in alternative energy sources in their research on bio-engineered organisms. One of their scientists, a Dr. Sam Kirk, has discovered a certain strain of extremophilic bacteria which can essentially be used as living energy storage mediums, and would very much like to see it put to use by a slightly less evil group. He first contacted the Genesis Consortium, however the group was unable to extend the resources nescesary to extract him from his current high-security posting (an extra-territorial oil rig turned research station), so Kirk instead reached out to Shiawase for a voluntary extraction from UO. Shiawase thus reaches out to an old associate in Haruki Uchida to put together a team and get the job done.
The Meet
The party met "Mr. Tanaka", a human with expensive cyberware, at Underworld 93 in Tacoma. Though the more runner-looking types have some trouble with the bouncer at the door, they are ultimately able to make their way inside and discuss the terms of the job with Mr. T.
The Plan
They were tasked by the megacorp Shiawase with the voluntary extraction of a scientist at an oil rig off the coast of Vancouver Island, operated by Universal Omnitech. They had to find their own person to operate the boat, which ended up being Trades using skillwires (after alternate options including pirate gangers and the Knights Hospitaller are briefly discussed). Zan Zan's contact Makhmud Kadyrov is also able to provide her with the means to invoke a powerful spirit of water that they can beseech for aid in this task.
The Run
The party bought 200 drams of reagents to contact a massive water spirit known as Wusan. Sticks summoned Wusan to help clear the skies and aid the party in our extraction efforts, which they accepted and granted us driftwood to summon them when needed. Sticks and Zan Zan then used their astral projection to scout the scene, while Trades hacks into the oil rig's host to deactivate cameras and other tech that could compromise their position. There's some brief trouble with the coast guard as the team attempt to cross into SSC waters, but they successfully lie that it was simply a mistake and manage to sneak across the boarder the next day. However upon boarding hte rig under cover of fog provided by Wusan's weather control, they are caught by the security and an alarm is raised. Following a brief engagement with the guards, Zan Zan fought solo while Trades acted as backup via the Matrix, and Sticks and Stryker had to rush over to Dr. Kirk's quarters in the confusion. Zan Zan had to burn an Edge in order to successfully take down a guard that would've otherwise killed her, but the team managed to exfiltrate successfully.
Aftermath
After the party was at a safe distance, the scientist wanted to speak to the party without the eyes or ears of Shiawase. After Trades took down any bugs that were on the ship, he spoke up about the reason why he asked Shiawase to take him away from the rig. The scientist had a sample and research for a specific type of bacteria, one that would produce energy after a complex process involving heat and reproduction. He wanted to give this data to an eco-friendly corp by the name of the Genesis Consortium, but they couldn't afford extracting him. So, he contacted Shiawase, and in exchange he would lock up the specimen and research so no other corp could have it. Knowing the bacteria wouldn't be put to good use, he asked for the party to bring him to the Genesis Consortium, at a reduced reward. Since this went against Zan Zan's code, and the rest of the party felt like getting on Shiawase's bad side wasn't the best idea, we went for a compromise; we would give his research to the Genesis Consortium and provide him with a covert commlink, but give him to Shiawase.

Player After Action Reports (AARs)
Sticks: "Oh man... This one was a doosey! We hadda grab this scientist from an oil rig for Shiawase, we had to fight a buncha people but we won without anyone gettin' too hurt... 'Cept for the guards o' course. We gave the research to this other friendlier-lookin' corp but had to give this guy up to Shiawase even though he ain't want it. Ah know it's the price of askin' to be rescued and all, but ah still kinda feel bad, maybe someday ah can help him outta that pickle. Oh, ah also summoned this sea god lookin' spirit called Wusan! He was pretty cool... He looks pretty ripped for a water spirit thinkin' about it. Either way, it was a mission success!"
Trades
"Two aquatic infiltration missions in a row. I wonder if that's common nowadays, but I've definitely enjoyed controlling vehicles. Hopefully getting paid with the boat won't turn out to be a mistake. I need to follow-up on the second extraction for the scientist. We gave him that Last-Chance Link, so hopefully he'll get something worked out with the Genesis Cooperative soon. I passed up my chance to make a connection with the water spirit, but that may have been a mistake. I'll need to do some more research on resonance techniques for vehicle rigging.
