Since the abuser, Jesus Cadaval, was a higher ranking member of the Chulos than Michael was, he appointed two runners to make sure it wouldn't be traced back to him. Shogoki convinced Jesus to race him in exchange for Michelle (the sister) and her baby, Marcy. Shogoki "won" by shooting the tire of Jesus' truck, then came to the crash site to confront him.
