"This was a wild one.  Sneak it, steal a whale who was really a person, which somehow I didn't even know was a thing, and get her up north.  Nothing too crazy. Interesting that it was an all elf team for once. Solid enough mage, good matrix support where needed.  Could have gone pretty bad downtown. Glad they had a better idea than the hard way.  Would work with this team again." -Lanky

Summary

Abby the Shifter had been held prisoner at the Seattle Aquarium for several months. A giant forest witch friend of her family wanted her freed, and scraped together enough money to hire our team to bust her out and return her to freedom.

Background

An indeterminate time ago an orca shifter had been captured and sold to the Seattle public aquarium, now a subsidiary of Horizon. Her friends and family reached out to a friendly forest witch to get her some assistance before she killed someone in captivity and got put down. Abby was not a fan of pants.

The Meet

The meet was in a coffeehouse downtown, Lanky Showed up early, Glitch showed up on time and lightly bumped into the gigantic client, who was a bit nervous and new to hiring runners, and Obsidian arrived fashionably late off a bus that had come through Puyallup gang territory.

The client laid out a white noise generator and explained the situation. An orca shifter had been captured and taken to the Seattle Aquarium for daily performances, and her family wanted her brought back. The Johnson was not even sure if the aquarium knew that their orca was a shifter, and didn't have much money to pay. After some cajoling she was able to recommend a talismonger that would work with her to provide those services at a discount.

The Plan

The plan was pretty straightforward. Call up some ecoterrorist pals for a distraction out front. Set off a fire alarm and get the hell out of there, get lost in a crowd and find the whale a ride home.

The Run

Lanky "Knew a guy" to find Sunny, a human he had shared some time in the special forces training program with who washed out when some ecoterrorist ties were discovered. She called some friends to prep a small protest out in front of the aquarium before things get started.

The team did a fair bit of legwork, matrix searching, physically searching out the aquarium as visitors, and Obsidian having spirits do light astral scouting on the property.

Once security routes and patterns had been established, the team decided to go back after two days of rest and prep. Lanky and Glitch putting on disguises and blending into the crowd while Obsidian made for a restroom never detected as part of the group.

Lanky hid out near the pool to be ready to move as Glitch hacked a fire alarm sensor to trigger a fire alarm in the building. Obsidian summoned a spirit to add to the chaos quotient while lanky and glitch dove into the pool with the potentially raging orca.

The whale charged at Glitch but the Technomancer began an interpretive dance of freedom to give the orca some idea of what was happening, Lanky submerged his commlink and used the speaker to loudly play -ABBY PLEASE LISTEN- getting them all enough time to speak before things got heated between the elves and the whale.

Eventually abby would be convinced to throw on human form, and pants, and head out in the chaos to an awaiting car. The team called in ==Taxi Sandra== who took the frightened whale and a Lanky in-cruiser escort with Glitch riding nearby up to Athabaskan territory to let her go in her native waters.

Aftermath

The Aquarium is out one whale, who has been delivered to home waters.

A few chips are owed by our runners and a few contacts need to be purchased.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

"(Sultry Tone)Everyone likes a feel good mission I suppose~ Though summoning spirits in the bathroom was not how I was expecting to spend a Monday Afternoon. I hope Abby finds some peace now. (Serious Tone) No one should be forced into The life she was forced to be in" - Obsidian

  1. Obsidian arrived fashionably late, but no one seemed to find on account of Dryad Glamour privileges
  2. Obsidian had to pay 200 nuyen to enter the Aquarism twice: Once to scout the place during business hours, and once to help with the extraction.
  3. Obsidian summoned 3 spirits of Man up to Force 6 to scout magical barriers, and finally when the alarm was pulled, she used the spirit to aid with the rioter's distraction, help conceal the crew on exfil, and wipe the signature from the summoning
