One more body hits the ground in possible gang-related killing
Blood splatter paints the corrugated walls of a nondescript shack on Canary Street, one of the many densely-packed housing blocks in the depths of the Redmond Barrens. A body lies inside, nearly unidentifiable, turned into pulp by a rain of blows from some kind of heavy blunt weapon. The morning heat bakes the smell of hot gore into the thick miasma of smog. Knight Errant was called eight hours ago. The scene remains undisturbed.
This Jane Doe is but the latest victim of rising gang violence in the Barrens. The current situation kicked off three months ago, when Cutters lieutenant “Killshot” Cassidy found himself on the wrong end of a car bomb. The Red Hot Nukes were blamed for the attack, and though they deny it to this day, skirmishes at the borders of their turf have become the unfortunate norm. To complicate things, an anonymous source reports Ancients presence on the crime scene:
“I saw ‘em from my window, I did, a coupla knife ears [sic] conversatin’ just before it all kicked off. One of ‘em was dressed real fancy like, and a younger one was wearin’ a black leather jacket covered in those damn green A’s. Couldn’t make out the rest of ‘em well through all of the rain, but judging by the gunshots they were packin’ some pretty serious heat.”
A gang hit job or a random act of violence? Who really was our unlucky victim? Was it an isolated incident, or the beginnings of a three way war? And to all of our readers: stay safe out there, and never stop hunting for the truth.
