Summary
Annette and Pasiphae head into the woods to find El-Arairahs pumpkin patch. Finding it desecrated, they are sent to stop the problem from happening again.
Background
El-arairah has a safehouse, and being up in the woods its mostly left without any issue. Yet, more recently, the plants she's worked hard to keep alive (with the help of an expert botanist), there's been people messing with her garden. That's her son's pumpkins, and that won't do.
The Meet
The team meets an astrally projecting El-Arairah, who is busy making dinner but taking a break for the meet. She mentions the importance - and cost - to her farm for her son, and that the pumpkins have been disturbed many times as of late. With a high amount of nuyen being offered to the runners, El-Ahrairah mentions she's paying both for the job, but also for their silence and not talking about her home. Giving them a map of the area, she leaves, returning home.
The Run
The duo start to perform checks in the garden, but due to the night and Iyaki's obstinance, she won't help, and the runners get stuck, given how neither of them are able to navigate the terrain very well. Yet, with persuasion, Iyaki is able to help lead them after she finds an astral signature. Before they go, Pasiphae smells some sort of animal urine in the forest, and realizes there might be wolves on the prowl.
Wandering through the forest, the team gets lost and circles around a tree a few times, only for Iyaki to mention she was leading them in circles, laughing. Just then, a wolf makes its way out of the bushes, Pasiphae does try to shoo it away, but is unsuccessful. The wolf lunging, she grabs hold of it, and Annette explodes the wolf, drenching the two in the stench of its passing.
Further in the woods, they end up seeing a pair of wolves; a mother and her young pup, who mistake them for what the trio assumes is the father, but seeing humans, the two wolves run off across the river, given them a hint as to where the den may be. Hearing as well a loud ruckus up top the hill, the team investigates. Yet, when they get close, Iyaki mentions she's scared of the cliff, saying that there's a heavy background count disturbing the area, and that the people up top are scary.
Pasiphae calls El-Ahrairah back, who talks through dinner, only to mention that she's worried these men are not the cause of the problem, but perhaps the symptom. She wants a better understanding of the area before calling it quits over geekings some drunk campers.
So, the trio head deeper into the woods and meet a Druid, who was animal formed and running with the wolves. He addresses the trio, saying that they should not be here, and that this is sacred land that he had been watching over. The trio mention their goal of rectifying the area to its natural ebb and flow (albeit in a much more brash tone), and the druid agrees to leave if they are able to get rid of the drunkards, as with their trash and music and guns, had so disturbed the forrest.
Annette persuades the otherwise obstinant druid to help with magic, and while at first is unmoving, eventually does agree to help.
