Faction Information

Garmonbozia is a nation of AI. It does not have a known physical location but instead exists entirely virtually on the Matrix. It is well hidden and redirects deckers and technomancers to other hosts to make it appear as just another deep Matrix illegal host.

Summary

The nation of pain and sorrow provides beleaguered AI with a sorely needed respite from the threat of uncaring metahumans and the vitriolic Null Sect; unfortunately, the price of that safety is constant vigilance and ruthless secrecy. Garmonbozia may not threaten to take over the Matrix or bring the entire world closer to destruction, but it is relentless in its pursuit of outsiders who learn of it. The nation’s true threat lies in how far their reach can extend in the panopticon of a global wireless Matrix.

The strictures of their society are not satisfied with simply removing sensitive information from the Matrix at large; it requires them to go further in erasing anything that might lead more outsiders into their borders. Driven largely by fear and paranoia, they will not hesitate to erase the records and assets of people who only seem tangentially related to those who would expose them. The most fanatical of their citizens are eager to discreetly engineer the deaths of their victims as well as any close contacts. Even shadowrunners may end up on a Garmonbozian hit list due to their actions or the actions of their contacts. This can range from something as innocuous as sensitive files being deleted from their commlink to burning their SINs and sending assassins after them.

Goals

  • Advance the security of AI in the Matrix and Sixth World society

Leaders

  • Sojourner is the name of the first publicly known Gen 2 AI after the Second Matrix Crash. Originally captured and dissected by NeoNET, Sojourner lost all sanity and escaped the megacorp's control only to appear during the Tlaloc Crisis of 2070 when it seized control of Tlaloc Station, an orbital Aztechnology bioweapon facility and threatened to unleash its contents on the planet if megacorporations didn't set free all the captive AIs they experimented upon. After two months of tense negotiations, the Horizon AI Pulsar successfully negotiated Sojourner to stand down, after which the AIs have worked together on AI rights in organizations such as the Undernet Alliance, often supported by both Evo and Horizon.

  • Mimir
  • Pulsar

Background

A number of factors led into the foundation of Garmonbozia; the ever-present threat of Null Sect, the fear of AIs before the Tlaloc Crisis was resolved and the inability of metahumanity to understand AI nature in many ways. The exact specifics are unclear, but Sojourner's less radical approach to AI rights likely had a big part to play in Garmonbozia. Despite this, they're fiercely protective of any details about their existence.

Allies

  • Evo
  • Horizon

Enemies

  • Null Sect
  • GOD
  • Dissonance

Current Status

Garmonbozia is currently stable.

Health Summary

Garmonbozia gained an influx of AIs that were laying low due to being wanted by GOD. Due to a large swathe of Erased algorithms being tied to unique AI identities, Garmonbozia is temporarily empowered.

Members

  • Ax S. Grant is a Mr. J for Garmonbozia. He mostly hires for datasteals and AI saves, but sidelines with some money-making ops for corps with no interest in his patrons. The work nets him data on magic, cyber, social networking, and dozens of other topics that he enjoys learning about. Recently, his focus has been operations looking into the Singularity at Horizon and the intelligent software behind P2.0 systems. The social aspect of humanity intrigues him, and these particular subjects reveal the abundance of social dynamics that metahumanity can possess.
