Background
Killian Flores was born in Aztlan, raised among the stark contrasts of its elite enclaves and impoverished districts. From a young age, he found himself fascinated by magic and its possibilities. Not just physical force, but the subtle control that could change the course of a conversation, a deal, or a relationship. This curiosity drove him toward magic, where he discovered an affinity for manipulation spells, which let him twist perception and alter emotions.
As he grew older, Killian knew that staying in Aztlan would limit his potential. Political tension and corporate control stifled magical innovation, and every promising was stifled by the presence of Aztechnology. Determined to forge his own path, he left his homeland to seek higher education abroad, in Seattle.
In Seattle, he enrolled in one of the city’s most prestigious magical academies, where he focused on manipulation magic. His studies went beyond mere glamour and misdirection; Killian specialized in influence spells, emotion control, and telekinetic finesse. He thrived in academia, eventually earning a degree in manipulation magic, but his ambitions couldn’t be confined to classrooms and labs.
After showing early promise as a magician, he and his thesis caught the attention of Aztechnology recruiters. His degree and talent in manipulation magic made him a prime candidate for work far beyond the usual corporate roles. The megacorp offered him an opportunity: a position in their black operations division.
or a time, Killian thrived in this dangerous line of work. He became an invaluable asset, using his magic to deceive, coerce, and infiltrate high-profile targets. Corporate espionage, hostile takeovers, and erasing political enemies—he handled it all with the same calm precision. His ambition led him to an exclusive initiation group, a secretive circle of magicians offering greater knowledge and access to deeper mysteries of magic. They promised each member increased power through collective initiation, unlocking abilities that went beyond the constraints of individual training. The group was alluring, but from the start, something about them unsettled Killian. Their rituals were old and obscure, and their obsession with gaining control over others through magic was extreme—even by his standards.
Still, power was power, and Killian had no intention of walking away. The initiation ceremony took the group deep into the SSC lands, where they planned to bind themselves to a powerful magical site for their initiation rite. They thought they could harness the wild magic of the region for their own gain—but they miscalculated.
The group was ambushed by a banshee lurking near the ritual site. As the creature descended upon them, their carefully prepared wards shattered, and one by one, the other magicians were overwhelmed—some torn apart by physical force, others driven mad by the banshee’s psychic assault. The others' minds and wills were no match for the unnatural force that surged through the banshee's magic.
Killian, being steeped in manipulation studies, outmatched the banshee's mind magics. With razor-sharp focus, he resisted the psychic barrage, using every trick and defense he knew to keep his mind intact. Yet, killian’s escape from the SSC was not entirely his own doing. As he stumbled through the dense wilderness, exhausted and on the brink of collapse, he felt his mind slipping, the banshee’s lingering whispers clawing at the edges of his sanity.
Just when he was certain he’d be lost, a figure stepped out of the mist—a being of elegance and grace, with piercing, otherworldly eyes. Inle Beoulve, a Fae who seemed more shadow than substance, reached out to him. With a touch that was both cold and comforting, Inle dispelled the last remnants of the banshee’s curse, mending Killian’s fractured mind in a way no magic of his own could have.
What began as a chance encounter blossomed into something deeper. Inle stayed by Killian’s side, guiding him out of the wilderness and tending to his wounds—both physical and emotional. The connection between them was immediate but subtle, as if they had known each other long before that fateful night. Over time, their companionship grew into love, and happily married they have been ever since Inle proposed.
Corporate Pariah
Mnemosyne at one point in his life was lured into an initiation group. One night they all headed to the SSC woods however most of them got munched by a hungry banshee. Mnemosyne, unscatched, returned to work to find he forgot his passwords to log in. It didn't take long for him to realize that it wasn't his memory, it was Aztec. Turns out, getting your colleagues eaten by banshees in the woods tends to have a negative effect on your career. As such, he was ejected from the company and left with nothing. He had to beg Mimi to save his Pookie Pookums Mr. Sassy Snakeums the 3rd.
