Summary

Background

Someone is infiltrating the corporate interests in Finland and the runners are tasked to find out who.

The Meet

The Team meets the Johnson and Dr. Hanson in Seattle in order to discuss the details of the job. They will have a week to learn enough Finnish to blend in and cannot bring most of their normal gear due to Finland's extensive gun and crime laws. They need to infiltrate the local criminal element in order to discover who is trying to move in on the Corpo-Country's territory. The goal is less elimination of that, but getting in, finding the moles, and mapping the infiltration network.

The Plan

  • Get on the ground, scout around, follow leads
  • Stay subtle

The Run

  • The team arrives in Turku without incident, having left almost all of their heaviest gear behind and under assumed names, SINs, and backgrounds from the client.
  • Alkali gets some information from the local church that there are parts of town with dangerous crime circles.
  • Huntress spends some time with local hunters under her assumed ID and learns of hidden stashes in the woods that the police are looking for
  • Samael learns that local trucking companies are being used to ship illegal AKs up to Oulu, which leads Alkali to believe it's the Droski Vory.
  • Dango runs the host and discovers that Chimera, Inc., shipped 200 AKs to Stockholm, then on a different boat to Finland, where Truck Group Oy picked it up to take it to Patrik Kilpinen, a known member of the Droksi Vory.
  • Chimera Inc's host got nuked by Finnish GOD and there is a bounty of 8k Nuyen for leads.
  • Sam and Huntress finds the hidden stash in the woods, as well as the motion sensor grenade guarding it. Sam makes a reasonable impersonation of a Decker and manages to disarm the motion sensor via hacking.
  • The two of them make an attempt to cover their tracks (7) and sneak back (8) with the compound which they turn over to an agent of the J.
  • The next day, the J contacts the team to let us know he compound is Ymir, a bioweapon that freezes the blood from the inside. When the police go to the location a day later, the crates have been moved.
  • Huntress finds a local bar based on the info from Alkali, and she and Sam with help from Dango's pitac engage a recon run of a long con.
  • Alkali becomes a dirty dirty thing toucher and checks the Ymir, learning that this is a full blown attempt to overthrow the government of Finland. This is coming from a toxic version of norse mythology in an attempt to bring about an winter-night-maxxed end of the world?
  • Samael is able to set the hook in the long con and get recruited into the group, which talk a lot about Winternight esque purges and overthrow of the government. Dango confirms via matrix search these are Droski Vory based on their tatoos.
    • Current Theory: Winterknight remnants, actuals, or cosplayers are using the Droski vory as mules to do the smuggling of the AKs, the Ymir, etc.
    • During the "hazing", of Sam getting beaten up, Alkali spots a German woman in the camp "praying" to a dragon, presumed to be S-K
    • Dango is able to get a commcode for the POI while the rest of the team scouts for additional details

Aftermath

The team relays back to Erika is that S-K is using a Winternight/Vory front to instigate an overthrow / shadow crime war in Finland in order to destabilize the country.
