During a training exercise in 2061, the Halley's Comet flew right through the sky above her, causing her to Surge and mutating her forever. Because of such an unprecedented event, she was sent away from the Army to be experimented and studied on alongside everyone else that was affected. She would continue running regular check-ups until the year 2064, where a new monarch would instate new laws causing any Surge affected citizens to live in indiscrimination and the potential threat of being killed. For this reason, Laura defected the country and joined the mercenary company known as MET 2000. There she would participate in the Battle for Bogotá and multiple Desert Wars, amongst other battles until the year 2083, where she'd move away from the mercenary life and move to Seattle, in the United Canadian and American States. There, she would apply her skills to become a Shadowrunner to be able to afford to live in the district of Redmond.
