Summary
The Crew is sent to rescue a hacker in distress, with the ultimate aim for her to be another hacker to strike back against the corpos!
Background
Gamestar and AA Game Development Company is being bought out by Horizon, after some games that did not match predictive analytics for what "modern Gamers" want to play, causing its Stock to Crash. That in combined with the litany of lawsuits against it from other companies with nefarious intentions, has caused the Merger.
Most of the developers and middle managers are the same corporate rat racers that would go perfectly in Horizon's work-culture: save for one, A developer with the skills and the mentality to potentially become a hacker. Himiko Ryudai, ace decker and now Haven Contact, has picked up this developer: code-named 'Denki' and is now trying to get her out.
The Meet
Himiko Ryudai meets the runners in a yakitori shop in Downtown. With the benefits of high-society secret meetings, she lays down the job details: She wants a Gamestar developer, code named "Denki" removed from their premises before she's rolled up and shipped to Horizon, and the security goes from AA to AAA.
Stacy does however ask for more money, which causes Himiko to smile and bring up the second point
Himiko stresses the need for the runners to go at this in a way that does not cause too much distress or emotional damage to Denki, in ways such as, but not limited, to wanton destruction and random firefights. The crew tries to judge intentions, and Stacy gets a hint, but the reason is not pursued. Given the extra difficulty, she is more than happy to provide more money as well as open her connections for electronics, drones, and the like.
The Plan
The Group plans to infiltrate Gamestar, and simply grab Denki, unaware that there are some hidden complications to their normally straightforward plan
The Run
Perdix is able to learn a few things about Gamestar, most interestingly, that they are undergoing some legal issues, mainly civil suits from various companies regarding poaching of IP and employees. The crew tries to contact a legal contact, but the woman glitches her roll and causes gives the crew erroneous information: that the civil suits are legit and damning.
The crew also learns that the teardown and redistribution of physical assets and manpower will be carried out by Pumpking Moving Company.
Limitless and Kong decide to physically infiltrate the nearby buildings, eventually Kong reaches a roof where there is a vent producing a ton of heat.
Stacy infiltrates through the front door, pretending to be....a Horizon Black Bag Operative.
And in the subsequent bullying, almost pushes Denki to the limit and causes her to press a panic button to call Himiko.
Eventually Perdix reminds Stacy of a fact he found: a code phrase Himiko told them about to let Denki know who they are.
Rattled by the experience, Denki still keeps on mission and informs the crew that they need to remove her SIN data, essentially they have to burn her SIN. The server is add only via the Matrix, in order to delete or update records, physical access is needed. The crew decides to infiltrate the vents that Kong found. Despite repeated warnings that things were in the vents, the crew decides that only Kong needs to go into the vent, who discovers: Boggles! With Boggles complicating the contortionist checks required to sneak through, the crew decides that extreme violence is the answer.
Limitless breaks through the door, and kills Boggles, Kong fights down the vent and fights Boggles, all while Stacy...still pretended to be a Horizon black bag operative, leads Denki out into the waiting car.
