Besides finding a strange flash that disappeared quickly into the night, Memento Mori focused on tracking the scattering of bikes (Suzuki Mirages, classic) that the Ancients rode off on by the skid marks they would leave behind on turns and some good intuition, leading the group over to a bar at the far south of Redmond, past glow city. The bikes were there of course, and the place was populated with late night patrons along with the thieves, and so the group decided on a more social route. Skull, blessed murder machine, was relegated as Fennec's boyfriend while Meretseger served as a bodyguard. Fennec played the part of overly curious woman wanting to figure out more at the bar, and after getting drinks immediately bee-lined to the Ancients to have a lovely talk, deeply curious about the bag they had. The Ancients, bewildered by the approach and not able to keep up with the strange foxgirl's blitz of questions, and yet both groups were even more confused still at the strange woman who just...appeared next to them, bag in hand, fiery red eyes and golden locks bright as can be. Before many of the group could act, she was already bolting down the door. Both Ancients and Runners started attempting to gun her down, but she seemed quite resilient to their attacks and preternaturally competent at dodging gunfire. Those shots that did strike true left her bleeding a golden ichor. She made her way onto a truck, the runners pursued ready to fight and destroy anything in their path (even sabotaging this random guy's truck with a dataspike), but Fennec realized there must have been something up with what was happening. Thoughts of spirits and the oddities of Halloween crept up in her mind, and she called out to the spirit that they only wanted the focus. Curious, the spirit turned invisible, hopped off the now careening truck alongside Skull, who tried to bust her face open, and quietly indicated to those who could see through her illusion that she wanted to talk but nooooooot while the Ancients were around. The team let the Ancients search around as the invisible girl led them away in the chaos, and they talked quietly about what they wanted. She seemed nonchalant about the focus itself, casually tossing it back over to the group for them to catch, but still held onto the reagents. The crew, having their objective in hand, saw no more reason to pursue their quarry, and so left the reagents with her and snuck off, as she casually walked up a vertical wall to the rooftops and made a break for it, the Ancients in hot pursuit. | |||

Summary
Sometimes runs are simple
Sometimes runs are sweet
Sometimes chasing after
A target that's quite fleet
A tale of lies and alibis is squashed beneath fast feet
Though robberies and trickeries
are as simple as many say
Sometimes the truth really lies behind
The Red Eyes of the Jay
Background
Isolde the Crafter is a deeply fortunate woman, when it comes to Redmond talismongers. Well supplied and furnished and able to do business despite not really owing anything to the gangs like the Crimson Crush in the area who demand payment from others, for some reason. But on the night of the 14th, that luck ran out - the Ancients have no qualms taking as they please, and that includes a plethora of reagents and a foci that had just been finished for a client. The danger of leaving that in the hands of a massive, growing gang and the financial difficulties it would bring about (not to mention how much of a liability she would become if she were to be compromised) made it a top priority to get that focus back. Thinking fast, she contacted a local fixer named Big Donny who could hopefully gather a group of runners on the fly to assist in the recovery.
The Golden Jay found itself a fresh new target.
The Meet
The Don called upon as many runners as he could, but 5 answered the call: Fennec, Dango, Memento Mori, Skull, and Meretseger. A rushed group but it would have to do. He explained the situation and the job: find the group of Ancients who took the foci and the reagents and get them back, mostly the focus. The rest was replaceable after all, but that had a link. He offered 6k to each of them at first as Isolde went to get security footage, and Fennec saw the opportunity to both needle him for his open heart and bring up the price to 8k a head, much to his chagrin. With that, the team got a look at the grainy, damaged footage and could make out a rough direction of travel, and the hunt was on.
The Plan
This is the kind of rushed job that leads to a dearth of planning, at least in the moment. The main thing they plotted out was bringing both cars and leaving their bikes at the shop.
The Run
Besides finding a strange flash that disappeared quickly into the night, Memento Mori focused on tracking the scattering of bikes (Suzuki Mirages, classic) that the Ancients rode off on by the skid marks they would leave behind on turns and some good intuition, leading the group over to a bar at the far south of Redmond, past glow city. Dango stayed in the car to safely provide matrix support, and Memento Mori set up on a nearby rooftop to watch the door in case the Ancients made a break for it.
