Summary
A host diving, psyche-chugging, matrix-searching 'pure' decker
Goals
- Develop the shadow rep needed to begin becoming an info broker
- Earn enough nuyen to upgrade her mind to become the purest hacker possible
- Live the high life whilst doing the above two.
Background
Kimiko Onoki, born to two dutiful (and wealthy) parents in the Neotokyo Great Metropolitan Sprawl. A natural intellect from a young age lead to the presumed rise to life as a spider, working an honorable job at an honorable japanocorp, or failing that, for the JIS government. Crash 2.0 rather put an end to that. In the chaos of it all, her parents turned to petty crime - and her father eventually as a low level yakuza thug - and Kimiko herself quickly turned to crime as well. What she found she was very, very good at was getting into places on the new wireless matrix she wasn't supposed to be, and she found a lot of people paid very well for this. Ware, mods, and a low level trickle of psyche cemented her abilities, until one day she ran afoul in the area of life she wasn't very talented at at all - the real world. Mugged at knifepoint and only barely escaping a horrific fate as a woman to a sudden burst of adrenaline, the experience still took a toll on her - her left eye. Thoroughly spooked and terrified she was vulnerable, she smuggled herself out over to Seattle, finding refuge (solace, mayhaps) with an up and coming fixer in the Bellevue area by the former name of Buzzword. She was, after a bit, convinced to re-put her experience to work, this time in the shadows of this new, western city. In honor of what might have been, she took on the name Tsuchigumo.
Narrative Significant Qualities
- Born Rich: Kimiko's parents were wealthy investment brokers, and even after the Crash they managed to (for a time) hold on to a few scurried away stashes of wealth. Most of this got 'invested' in Kimiko, as her presumed talent and cushy position would provide standing and further wealth to the family.
- Black Market Pipeline Vivian, recognizing a talented decker when she sees one, has managed to pull in a long term favor from one of ehr old teammates to help provide Tsuchigumo with quality parts at a favorable discount.
- Creature of Comfort, Middle: Even SINless, Kimiko and her family managed a comfortable existence. Even a teenagehood/young adulthood of crime has not disabused Kimiko of the 'need' to live at a certain level of providence - slumming it is for plebians, Muscles, and other, less technologically elegant types.
- Records on File: EVO: Kimiko's exploits during her first few week running wern't without mishap - an errant and hurried bungle by the face on a nascent job left EVO with the assembled crew's (fairly) up to date biometrics.
- Records on File: Renraku: Kimiko had attempted employment at Renraku both before and after the crash, althoguh it never went anywhere. Still, they do have (somehwat) up to date metrics on her.
- Reduced Sense (Sight): Kimiko was mugged in Neotokyo right before her decision to smuggle herself out. Only her at-the-time insane rush at the knife wielder of the crew that had mugged her got her away, though the hurried slash he took carved her left eye out. Though it would be trivial to replace, she stubbornly refuses. To her, the loss is a symbol of what made her into what she is today. To 'recover' would be to erase the gravity of that day.
- Social Stress (Crowds): After the mugging, Kimiko has avoided places with a multidide of real life metahumans. partially from anxiety, partially from fear, partially from caution.
