Summary
Background
The Meet
Naomi calls Chameleon to ask about receiving some assistance with her negotiations with Flash Star! She wants Chameleon to acquire some blackmail on Reina Taylor without tipping them off. Chameleon agrees and does a cursory matrix search in order to get some basic information on both.
The Plan
From there, he contacts Axxess and Skinshedder to have them perform deeper matrix searches for him to see if he can’t gather some additional info. He’s able to discover Reina’s home address as well as the fact that she has 2 roommates, 1 of whom is a security conjurer. Chameleon sets a grid guide to take him by the apartment to check out the security features nearby. He does a pass by and then starts calling contacts to work out some plans. He calls Der Opa to create a forged business proposal, but isn’t able to get a hold of contacts to arrange a meeting that day, or navigate the bureaucracy themselves. Later that night, Chameleon taps Quentin Alvarez to drop him off and pick him up after he deploys some stealth tags on various windows. The next day, he is able to identify the residents of the different private areas in the apartment.
He disguises himself as Viktor Lazlo again and starts his work for the day. He manages to successfully make his way through Flash Star!'s bureaucracy and arrange an appointment with Reina. Eventually, he decides that he’ll try offering to do a shadowrunner job in exchange for Naomi receiving the role as choreographer. If that doesn’t work, then He’ll contact the french intelligence officer he knows in order to get some blackmail on her. He grabs a new disguise and makes his way over to Flash Star! To meet Reina in her office. Once he’s inside, he makes a business proposal to Reina. He’ll do a shadowrunning job for her that doesn’t involve wetwork. Reina counters with a proposal to injure the current top pick, Penelope Hopkins, for the choreography role in order to make it easier to promote Naomia, and do a shadowrunning job for her in exchange for getting Naomi picked. Reina sends him a dossier on her before bidding him farewell.
From there, Chameleon goes to check out Naomi's workplace. He enters and signs up for a month of Neo-Electric Hip-Hop classes as Victor Lazlo before going to watch the ongoing class for awhile. Later that evening, he calls up Quentin Alvarez once again to back him up as he floats the potential plan of an ambush outside of Penelope's dance studio. Once he arrives for the classes, he notices the presence of a force 5 guardian spirit watching over Penelope. In response, he tells Quentin to stand down and go meet him at a club later that night.
Later that night, at the club, Chameleon briefs Quentin on his new plan: Together, they'll show up to Penelope's apartment complex in disguise, and go on a tour of an available apartment. Once they get inside, they'll knock out the building manager and Chameleon will steal his identity. From there, once Penelope gets home, they'll head upstairs and pretend to be installing an upgrade. Once they get inside, Chameleon will cause nerve damage in her legs which will keep her off her feet for between 6 weeks and 3 months.
The Run
The plan goes off without a hitch until they get into Penelope's apartment. Once inside, Quentin senses that there's something watching them. Chameleon quickly uses a nerve strike to paralyze Penelope. Once she's downed, her guardian spirit materializes and enters combat to defend their charge. Both the spirit and Quentin are caught flat footed, but Chameleon acts quickly to cause the nerve damage as well as applying a tranquilizer slap patch and a laes slap patch to erase her memiories of their encounter. From there, Quentin and Chameleon make a break for the stairway to make their way out of the building. As they're descending, Quentin numinously perceives that a cold wind and a feeling of protective rage has passed by them, and intuits that the spirit has traveled through the astral to beat them to the ground floor.
Once the team arrives at the downstairs door, Quentin catches the spirit informing the receptionist to call the police and that Chameleon and company are about to burst through the doors. Quickly, Quentin swings the door open for Chameleon to enter the room and tie down the elemental waiting at the lobby doors. The plan goes smoothly and Quentin escapes to the car whereupon, the spirit with a threat that Chameleon and Quentin might run, but they will hound their steps to the ends of the earth.
Once they're in the Jackrabbit, Quentin starts driving away before feeling the sense that something is watching them. Quickly he hits the gas and begins trying to shake their tail. Eventually, once he feels safer he asks Chameleon to check to see if they had shaken the spirit. It appears that they've lost their tail, but Chameleon suggests that Quentin comes over for drinks and to take advantage of the protection from his lodge.
Aftermath
- Penelope's guardian spirit knows Quentin Alvarez's aura (3 hits on an assensing). What are the ramifications of this? I do not know.
- Chameleon successfully acquires the blackmail he was going to give to Naomi in order to pay back his favor to Reina
- Chameleon and Quentin crack open a few cold ones after successfully escaping Penelope's guardian spirit.
- Naomi is able to secure a contract to work as the choreographer for Flash Star!'s summer promotional material.

I hate owing him a favor; he always gets full value in return. I don't mind doing bad things to bad people but Penelope wasn't a bad person. She didn't deserve a month on crutches. Maybe Katrina can arrange for some work with the theatre people. Or Reina. I wonder if there's something at Flash Star! that she could direct towards Penelope in exchange for work? I'd ask Naomi but I'd feel awkward given the circumstances. I'm gonna lay low for a while, I think Corf and I should take a trip to Montreal. I've got to put together a new Personae to replace Viktor Lazlo he's burned to a crisp. Smoked meat sandwiches and a plate of poutine with generous quantities of pale ale will get the creative juices going. I haven't sculpted an elf for a long time. I could use that building manager as a starting point....
