Summary
The Johnson sends the crew in order to recover a piece of ware one of the runners had to hopefully learn more of what happened that caused their deaths.
Background
Runners have been brutally murdered out in Olympia, SSC. Unknowing to them, recovering the arms puts the crew in a conflict between Milspec Operatives, Shedims, and GOD. The writer would like to direct the reader to the rewards section of this gig.
The Meet
The crew meets the Johnson in a motel, where The Johnson tells them that runners have been founded dead in Olympia, and wants to learn more about the situation. There is a potential lead: A cyberarm from one of the dead runners, however, the arm was taken and has ended up in a cordoned off area in Olympia. The Johnson learned that there is a heavy drone presence and no civilian activity. The crew is able to secure additional reward, as well as funding for transportation and a stipend in case money is needed for the job itself.
The Plan
The crew decides to research the area via Matrix Search before arriving on site. They conduct legwork to find out where the cyberarm is and see if it can be retrieved without risk of violent and brutal death.
The Run
Despite the Media and Police Blackout of why the area is cordoned off. Dango is able to exploit Social Media via a deep Matrix Search and recover a blurry photo taken of the military types moving into the area. It is revealed that they are milspeced with Automatic Shotguns and Laser Pistols. Upon arriving. Dango scouts with her flyspy while Bicoporal hands out his preps to aid with the infiltration. Dango learns that the soldiers are indeed mil-specced, and have a pair of Riggers with RCCs that have Sleaze, Data processing, and Firewall capabilities. Boombox decides to infiltrate while Ardent does some social legwork in the surrounding area to learn more about the Media Blackout. Boombox, discovers an army of drones, as well as several dead bodies killed in the same way as the runners. Finally, he finds the armored mil-spec operatives from the picture. The Kanmushi Dango sticks on Bommbox pictures up their chatter and records it. Boombox retreats for now, and Dango is able to clean up the recording. The crew considers their actions until they hear gunshots from the containment zone, where one of the dead bodies Boombox saw is now walking briefly before being cut down by the drones, then obliterated by an Auto Shotgun. Dango records this all on her flyspy, but the innocent drone is spotted by the Operative, who tries to shoot it down with his perfectly normal and not overcompensating laser pistol. The operative fails (skill issue) and the crew reviews what they know. They rest up for the day and at night. Boombox sneaks in through the back, and finds more drones, an operative, and a crashed gunship. Boombox decides to check the gunship after a successful sneak, and finds a Rigger in VR, as well as boxes that low and behold contain the cyberarm. Boombox takes the arm and is able to exfil with the rest of the team and get paid.
Aftermath
The Johnson now has information and a few leads regarding what on Earth is going on. This writer is sure that this will come up again.
