Character Information
Summary
Escaped Borg commando officer, hellbent on borg freedom even if he has to conquer the world to ensure it.
Goals
1. Build a place where escaped borgs can go, and access the materials and skills they need to survive. 2. Work to free cyborgs. 3. Build an army. 4. Ensure no cyborg can ever be owned again. Whatever it takes.
Background
Mamluk's first memories were of the early training he and his many creche-mates underwent. Constand evaluation, testing, training, information, and propaganda. He was part of a large MCT blackops program looking to create an expiremental army to test the viability of large-scale borg programs, to create the Army of the Future.
Some borgs were marked as having special aptitudes for military theory and leadership roles. The one who would become Mamluk was one of these. He and the others learned military theory, on top of all the combat and piloting training. Military history, theories of war, logistics, intelligence, tactics, strategy, grand strategy, the nature of politics in war. Top instructors were brought in under the guise of teaching remote classes to select young promising recruits. Mamluk began to notice parts of their teaching that didnt make sense. Parts of the propaganda that clashed with the mechanisms of control MCT kept in place. Carefully, he started testing the bounds of their security. The expert training they'd given him in tactics and covert operations was turned against them.
Mamluk hatched a plan to free himself. He knew that any attempt to free them all would doom itself. The world outside would be too hostile for so many of them. Their unique logistics gave the corps a practical chain around their necks. As with any plan for war, see to your logisitics first. On an early test mission, one of the borg officers was blown off an oil rig into the ocean, electronics presumed damaged. Covert recovery teams were sent in, but they couldnt recover the shell. An expensive loss, but not outside the projects budget. Soldiers are always lost.
Mamluk was free.
He washed up on a Phillipine shore. his quiet pathfinding in the months prior had arranged certain favors. A fake SIN was forged, and he was smuggled by pirates to the city of Seattle. He paid his fare in jobs, working for the pirate queen Castaneda. He met Dottie on one of these jobs, and got along with her well. A good step in getting the supplies he'll need to build up to his first goal: build a place where escaped borgs can go, and access the materials and skills they need to survive.
