Outline

  • Zan Zan and Mara meet at Lady J’s shop. After greeting one another they go in and visit the private backroom.
  • They drink tea and discuss the investigation. Then Mara divines.
  • They see LA, underwater, a familiar looking black ship docking. Meet with munma order people in lavender cloaks. Rubies exchanged and hooded folk are loaded before the ship sails back.
  • Dylath-Leen - the ship moves through. Black wood, square jib. Turbined and masked folk. Open air slave market.
  • Brief perspective from a nearby building. Bird POV. Familiar glow in the building. Hard to place. Mineral.
  • Deep in the astral sea, closing in on a shadowed moon. Stygian figures, swirl about and drain life.
  • They decide to go to the metaplanes. Buy shade for ZZ. And return to the backroom. Tygar will guard their bodies.
  • They wander out into the city and the woods and find a door and descend to meet two hooded figures.
  • Lantern of the toad.
  • Door of ivory and of horn and they enter a wooded area in the metaplanes.

Cat city. Hand lettered sign Ulthar.

  • ‘Train’ approaches and Mara has a ticket.
  • Centipede train with ivory pavilions on the back. Tentacles catch dropped things and return. Luxurious palanquins, carpets, adornments.
  • Conductor - frilled shirt, bird mask, cane and tricorn hat.
  • Ticket - dreamlands express.
  • Mara shares some about Dylath-Leen as she makes two preps.
  • A cat makes friends with ZZ.
  • Black basalt walls. The pair head toward the docks looking for some information.
  • Enter the Drunken Whaler. Stone foundation, wooden walls, skeletons of fantastical sea creatures. Hooded figures, cloaked folk, suspicious stares. Bartender in a sleeved coat, mustache, dark spectacles, balding. *Liquor in bottles of all sorts.
  • Pan Glactic Garble blaster. Flaming martini with lemon. Blue and purple flames.
  • Hooded figure with chain tattoos covered. Black sword. Looks to maybe be a former slave.
  • Adalai - purchase a drink and talk. As they discuss slaving, Adalai rubs at the tattoos a bit. Yamaboshi is from Yin. Yamaboshi - hard features, leathery skin from intense training and sun exposure, wiry but muscled. Scars on hands, no tats, bald, no facial hair, stone grey eyes. Nego - a silver piece and a specific offering to a druid circle. He points out a building with the lantern light coming out.
  • They go over and Mara starts by slashing a guy after ZZ tries to be polite. They intimidate goons to run. Then they break down the door and avoid an ambush. Inside they fight a spider legged head and a tentacle neck. It’s perilous for a moment, but they prevail.
  • Going up the stairs there is toxin.
  • Then they meet the toad. They offer not to kill him and the toad says he needs something in return. ZZ says no price is too high, while Mara compels a freebee.
    • Ship: Raven
    • Captain: Havelock
    • Traded to: Beasts of the Black Moon
    • Gaf - Black moon, Bogeyman.
    • Darksider
  • Gum Toad attacks. ZZ and Mara kill him, but not before the toad tries to eat Mara.
  • Toads name is found.
  • They offer rubies to Adalai, let him keep half, but save half for us.
