Style Guide

I would say my style varies from run to run. I'm still working on figuring out how I like to run Shadowrun games and my particular style, as I'm still rather new to this.

Game Themes/Styles

This will be expanded on over time. I literally just made this. I've done two runs, so you see two categories lol.

  • Sixth World Absurdity - Sometimes people with power want strange things and runners are the key. Other times, the world itself is just not what you'd expect. These runs have a comedic and more lighthearted slant, though that's not to say they are consequence free.
  • Serious, Dark - Likely grim events and a dark atmosphere. There are plenty of nasty things in this setting, and sometimes they get explored.

How I run things

  • I will try to pick characters that will be alright with the run, though I get that can vary. Notably, if you're signing up to try to subvert/work against the run, that's perfectly fine as well. I'd just like to know in advance. If people want to decline the job once they get more details, that's fine.
  • I'm alright with players working against the goals of the J, though communicate with me and hopefully don't do things that make it actively unfun for the rest.
  • I do think actions should have consequences. I won't try to just set up in impossible situations, but I'll admit I'm still learning, so my gauge might be rough. If I mess up on my end though, I'll try to either retcon/subtly adjust things to work it out. On the player's end, I'll try to create consequences to your actions, if only so they feel real, with the weight they deserve.

Fae Notes

I've been running a fae related plotline and adding in Fae NPCs. I collated a few tips about running Fae from the shadowrun sources that I've read. This is not an exhuastive list, and I am not a member of thematics, so take all of this with a grain of salt. Also, the most important thing to remember is to break these rules. These are general guidelines about how Fae of the Seelie Court interact with others. They absolutely break these rules though. Never be afraid to not do these. For more detail, I'd recommend checking out Court of Shadows.
