Summary
The runners kidnap and interrogate some vampires linked to the resurgence of a cult. And Glitch gets several dates.
Background
The Lancea et Sanctum, a Christian vampire cult that considers vampires to be god's punishment for sinners, was attacked by runners in Sanctum Sundered. However, not all the cult was destroyed, and signs pointed to a resurgence, so Isobel Catalan hired some runners to find out about the cult.
The Meet
The runners arrived at a small bar in Snohomish after dusk, Isobel standing out as the only metahuman. Glitch made a particularly grand, AR-enhanced entrance, then it was down to business. Isobel mentioned the cult's possible resurgence, and offered information about the cult's symbols and potential locations. Glitch, unknowing that Isobel was a vampire, flirted successfully with her and then Neijing.
The Plan
Neijing and Glitch searched the Matrix for information about the cult, finding a spate of kidnappings and murders in Puyallup and the adjoining districts, falling away around two months ago but with a recent partial resurgence, and news reports about the 'acts of terrorism and gang violence' in Santum Sundered. BD then used Psychometry to observe several kidnappings, before the runners continued to a vampire bar. The plan was for Glitch to pose as a curious vampire simp to pry for information, while the others stood by in case of problems.
The Run
Glitch posed as a vampire simp while Neijing provided reverse psychology by trying to warn her against it and BD scoped the area. Finding one vampire who seemed to know something but was more interested in eating Glitch, so she sought elsewhere for information. This vampire was rather upset, and Neijing's enhanced hearing caught him mentioning to a friend that she was asking questions. So Wayfarer left the bar to lay an ambush outside, while Glitch lured them outside and the others followed behind.
After one laid hands on Glitch, the others acted. Thanks to magic, the two now-obvious cultists from their skills got enough warning to fight back, but were eventually overwhelmed, the mage tackled by BD after setting him on fire and both bombarded with Neijing's stick-and-shock.
Aftermath
The two vampires were... interrogated after they regained consciousness, giving a villain monologue about the sinners needing to be punished and calling the runners amateurs compared to the Romans, which produced some confusion due to the runners assuming this was first-hand knowledge. They also spilled a substantial amount of secrets about the cult, which the J was happy to receive along with the two vampires to double-check.
And then Glitch found that she had some things to love about vampires after all.
