Summary

Getting info on an officer gone horrifyingly wrong.

Background

Raven, an intelligence officer within the UCAS military has been suspected of being corrupt. The Johnson wanted to either resolve her of these claims, or get the evidence to out her.

The Meet

Koi and Einheri are not physically present for the meet, but got the details through matrix connection. Manashoe, Caliban, and Gulliver did the social heavy lifting for the meet, and everyone was satisfied by the amount offered for such a 'simple job'.

The Plan

1. Gather information on the target

2. Check the warehouse found from the info gathered

3. Improvise

4. Profit

The Run

A warehouse is discovered at bleeding edge speeds due to some incredibly quick matrix personnel. The warehouse was discovered to be connected to the Winternight plot, and group decides investigating is the best course of action.

Koi and Manashoe decide on physical infiltration; using Caliban's prowess in ranged matrix actions to distract the guard enough to get in. Koi grabs Manashoe and hops the fence, then climbs the wall with him on her back. She then lowers him down inside the warehouse, where he burns an edge on psychometry to get near perfect information on what happened. After some more poking around, the group gets out and decide that getting Koi a quick visualizer implant would be a good start to getting an image that they can use.

Manashoe uses mind probe to look into her thoughts while describing the face until she gets it right so they can proceed. This backfires spectacularly, after 2 failed attempts and a botched threshold 3 composure roll with edge and 15 total dice involved. Koi goes berserk after gaining the Flashbacks II quality when he pops a mnemonic vault full of trauma, killing Manashoe via 10 slugs to the chest. Koi's auto-injectors go off as she "enters combat", leading to a speedball fueled hallucinogenic rage where she rampages through the streets and kills some civilians as well. Koi regains her bearing, realizes what she's done, and flees to the orc underground where she collapses. After a visit from Caliban, and some horrific advice (in the player's own words), the run is concluded after cross referencing the picture the party got with some surveillance footage that was found linking Raven to some incriminating information.

The group discovered she was suspected to be present in the Kansas Swarm incident, involved in the radstorms in Redmond, spotted in the Algonkian-Manitou Council when Europol was looking for Gungnir. In Chicago before the nuclear warheads were dropped during Chicago's infestation and finally, the team found concrete camera archive footage of her being involved in a vintage vehicle getting stolen from Europol's storage warehouses in Seattle. She's been seen near an elderly looking human male with no identifiable SIN but who has been spotted in various locations including Kansas, Redmond and Tacoma.

Aftermath

Officer Raven is identified by internal investigation as having connections to a potential toxic Awakened individual with ties to Winternight. Further UCAS MP investigation carries on discreet pursuit to discover her true goals instead of apprehending her directly and risking failure in uncovering a potentially deeper plot.

On the player side, Koi burns a lifestyle after gathering her things. Manashoe's dead-mans' switch message sends out to his agency, sparking a future run where Koi will get investigated for this.

Rewards

18,000 Nuyen (9 RVP) 4 Karma (4 RVP) 2 CDP

Koi gets 10 CDP instead of 4 Karma because she killed civilians. She also suffers Flashbacks II because her mnemonic vault was ripped open by Manashoe's mind probing and went berserk, killing civilians and a teammate in a mindless frothing drug rage.

Game Quotes

Tyneman's post of Manashoe's last words - "Manashoe suddenly has a hole in his chest, as he looks at Koi, tears streaming down his face. He falls down, and can only choke out, "I'm...sorry" as he hacks and coughs, an automated switch on his comm triggering which Caliban can see, a message action. This ganger's gone."

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Koi - "Never again... nobody ever pokes around in my head again..."

Dante Palmer - "I guess we won't be watching reruns, old bud? God damn it, god damn it. I wish I just said something better as the last thing he heard from me."

Gulliver - New to the shadow business. This isn't really how thought it worked, but I guess it's the only way and will be my new normal until I've managed to work my way onto the socaial ladder and manage to get a real job."

Caliban

I w-was powerless to d-do anything to st-stop her and th-then p-powerless again to k-kill her. What if sh-she kills again? The bl-blood will be on y-your hands.

She s-said ... she t-told me t-to ... I s-saw her and it w-was like a m-mirror but it w-wasn't th-that. I cl-claw at my own image, cl-claw at myself, wh-why didn't I rip h-her apart. You w-wouldn't hesitate if it w-was yourself lying th-there, would y-you, CALIBAN.

Wh-Why is she different ... wh-why do you w-want her to live ...

No. It isn't my pr-problem. I h-have other th-things to c-contend with, Koi w-will have to make d-do alone.
