Summary

The runners meet with Carleton Moreau at the Zephyr Multi-use building before arranging for their transport to Montreal. The team does some legwork on the trip over. From there they head out to a lodge that Carleton has booked for the night. The next day, the team heads out to destroy the hunter's gear in order to prevent them from performing the mission for the brother. The team makes their way home to Seattle and claim their reward.

Background

Virginia Moreau has been having a disagreement with her brother, and has had her husband Carleton Moreau get in touch with runners from the haven in order to win their argument.

The Meet

We find Wylde driving out of an abandoned train station in the barrens on their Yamaha Growler. Nearl and Trades are carpooling in her Armadillo, while Tempest is driving her Hearse to the multi-use building. When the team arrives, at the multi-use building they seat themselves in Carleton Moreau's office where he informs them that his wife has recently taken an interest in animal rights. Unfortunately, this means that her brother has taken an interest in animal wrongs. Specifically, he has hired a team of hunters to a species of lynx in the nature reserve. The team negotiates for access to some of the gear that the companies in which he holds a stake produce as well as lodgings near the site, and transport via Corf for part of the team.

The Plan

The team splits into two groups for the travel. Trades and Tempest travel in the Armadillo via the Canadian Pacific Ghost Train, while Wylde, Nearl, Halflight, and Nearl's spirits travel in Corf. Trades performs an in-depth matrix search on the bounty hunting company. Tempest works on a search focusing on Cheno'Ah Maskwa. Tempest discovers that Cheno'Ah has been having an intimate relationship with Kihew Cardinal. Trades does a follow-up T6 search on Kihew Cardinal and digs up that he is a green mage. The team is able to determine that he has an initiation into Cleansing through knowledge of his tradition, and that he is likely to have initiations into greater ritual and efficient ritual. The team does some follow-up research on two more of their members, Jacques Delacroix a physical adept known in the Quebec shadow community, and Pierre LeHavre a rigger known in the Quebec circles.

Tempest performs some astral surveilance and finds 3 F9 plant spirits before returning to the team. With a sighting of their enemies, the team disembarks from the Armadillo and starts making their way into the woods. The team treks for awhile before running into an Ares mule that they navigate past. As they're leaving it behind, Wylde tosses a powerbolt backwards to blast the drone into bits as part of the teams asset denial plan. Sorting through the wreckage they determine that it was shuttling the hunter's garbage out of the forest. As the team makes their way through the forest, they eventually find themselves encountering their opposition.

The Run

The team and the enemies detect each other, and open fire on each other. The mage, Kihew, drops in the first pass to some gel round while the teams exchanges fire. Wylde blasts the rigger, Pierre LeHavre, with a powerbolt while Nearl suppresses Jacques Delacroix's, the Adept, foci and magic. One of Nearl's minions splatters the rigger. Finally Tempest sends a blast of cold to KO the adept, and Trades gives a well timed warning to Wylde to help them avoid getting shot by the lurking leader. The spirits, without their summoner to direct them aimlessly wander while the leader is ko'd by a gel round. After neutralizing the hunting team, the runners head south to the wildlife center which is destroyed magically. After neutralizing the taxidermy center the runners head to the rendezvous point with Corf and the ghost train for a return to Seattle.

Aftermath

The team leaves the hunters with their survival gear, but forgets to brick their survival knifes, which leads them to call the cops to report the attack. Fortunately, the team was wearing disguises and destroyed the sensors and cameras in the area before leaving making their identities unidentifiable.

Trades

I'm glad that I was able to neutralize the mage and hunter before the rest of the team got to them. They weren't very interested in taking prisoners, and those two weren't runners. It seemed like they were just some normal folks who got mixed up in the wrong family's spat.

Nearl

Jobs worth doing? Saving the wildlife usurped of freedom by filthy humans... worth it in my eyes.
