Summary

Duration: 11/25: 3 Hrs

Background

Trevor Hill's continual efforts to get information and intelligence from Renraku leads to him recruiting a runner team for a low stakes 'extraction' under some vaguely dubious situations.

The Meet

The team makes their way to the Bellevue Crab House, dealing with some challenge with SIN Scanners and the dress code issues of getting into the meet itself. Mirage and Hypnos make their way in easily, but Grackle, Miut, and Getaway have some dress code related challenges. Getaway, however, arranges for them to get some better clothing from his car, and they make their way in.

Trevor Hill explains during the meet that he wants an extraction of one Mr. Iwai Masayuki from Renraku. However; Masayuki is in deep and cannot just leave his wife and Renraku. As a result, the job is to 'acquire' him and find some manner of faking his death so that the company and his wife don't bother to go looking for him. Hypnos realizes that there is something else going on with the run given the upper class setting and high payout on the job, but the lower lifestyle runners.

The Plan

  • "I wanna do carbomb" - Miut
  • Steal a body
  • Stage a car bombing of said target using fake body
  • Spoof the biomonitoring devices
  • Profit!

The Run

Legwork

Matrix Things Discovered:

  • Masayuki works for Renraku in AI processing and design, focusing on the hardware elements of high bandwidth data processing.

Magical Things Discovered:

Physical Things Discovered:

  • Masayuki lives in Bellvue, in a AA zone.

The Run

  • The team heads to a C Zone in Downtown to find a body for their carbomb plan. Inside the cemetery, there is a recently buried body which is the correct build but not the correct age for the target.
  • Grackle makes Miut and Mirage invisible in order to help cover their digging and manage to both exhume a corpse and rebury the grave.
  • During the digging, Hypnos compiles and registers a L4 Sprite
  • The team acquires 17kg of improvised explosives by spending most of the night buying chemicals from various stores across Seattle and Redmond in particular. Grackle puts all them together to make a reasonable carbomb explosive.
  • A small free spirit, however, grabs the body from Grackle's fridge overnight, taking it out for a bit of a joyride around the neighbhorhood
  • They rescue a local soydog vender from the 'zombie', convince him it is not a zombie but instead of a 'betameth addict' and then gets the free spirit a soydog.
  • Grackle manages to arrange a deal with the free spirit to give it real food from the restaurant where the meet was had in trade for it leaving the body.
  • The team tails Masayuki on his morning drive, getting a scan onto his commlink and, with the help of Hypnos, getting control of it.
  • Miut spoofs a message from one of Masayuki's bosses informing him that he needs to pick something up for the office near the border of Bellvue and Redmond
  • Hypnos does wacky matrix magic and gains marks and ownership of the Ford Americar that Masayuki is driving.

Aftermath

  • A body is reported missing from a Downtown Graveyard, though there's no indication as to what happened. The local caretaker has been fired and replaced.
