Summary

Political run went sideways. Candidate dead, HTR inbound, we’re being burned for it.
Johnson set us up — don’t know why they pulled the trigger.
We’ve got pieces of the puzzle and one asset still breathing.
Need backup ASAP — join to help solve the murder, or get us out clean.
Can't offer much for payment, but maybe one dirty J less. - Baji

Background

The actions of the following run lead to this:
Hearts and Minds: The Ground Game

The Run

Baji and Ez‑Azael, both wounded, used the last of their strength to drag the critically injured Jia‑Lynn—a pistol adept from Red Team who offered everything she had in exchange for her life—to a black market, where they eventually found a street doc willing to help. At the same time, Iris and Colcannon linked up with them after responding to the help‑flash message in Shadowhaven.

While Colcannon handled a pair of undercover cops who didn’t want to get too close to the big fomorri, Jia‑Lynn opened up and offered the runners 5,300,000 nuyen for her rescue. As the street doc roughly patched her up, the runners bought a medkit and sent Colcannon off with Jia‑Lynn to Iris, who was waiting in her car.

While Baji and Ez slipped away, Jia‑Lynn made the same offer to Iris and Colcannon. Iris almost took the bait—until she realized why Jia was so eager to give the money away: it was campaign money, and with the candidate dead, it was hotter than a dragon’s diarrhea.

At a junkyard in Puyallup, the runners eventually struck a deal with Jia‑Lynn. She walked away with two pistols, but left the runners access to the 5.3 million nuyen and a shadow account with roughly 80,000 nuyen earmarked for bribes and operational expenses.

They chose not to follow the lead of "Das Schwein" — an outside fixer currently operating in Seattle — and instead take the money and live to fight another day.

Aftermath

Ibanez escaped with Ares executive Mrs. Draeger—the target of his long con from the start. Why he did it remains unknown, and his trail is getting colder by the minute…
