Summary
In their bid to capture a public amongst the fans of pirates, Horizon hired an actual, real life Caribbean pirate to follow with a crew of cameramen and writers to create a trid series about the life of these modern buccanneers. While the series was successful, the younger sister and former shipmate of the star of the show strongly disagrees with her selling out, and tasks the runners with destroying her media carreer
Background
Jaloque was one of the Three Winds, a crew of three sisters piloting a single ship that had the fame of fearsome and highly competent pirates a few years back, showing no fear and taking booty from even opponents with on board security. That all came crashing when the Horizon talent scouting team came knocking. It was a simple proposition really, their networks craved something real and raw, and Jaloque craved economical stability, and a carreer where she got to be free on the seas, but the opponents weren't shooting real bullets.
The Meet
Mistral, the former rigger of the Three Winds, met the runners at the harbor, in what was an highly unorthodox meet, going as far as to intentionally not docking her ship, to see how the team would react to unforseen consequences. The idea of using cold magic to make an ice gankplank earned her approval, and what sealed the deal was NSH's presence, an actual made man in the Cuban Mafia she knew by name. Meeting was light on detail, just giving Havana as a location from where to start searching, and the name of the target. The contract was explicitly to humiliate her and damage the rep so that she may not continue working as a pirate, but leave her unharmed, as she still cares for her sister
The Plan
First part was actually getting to the Caribbean League, but with NSH invisible boat and actual SIN and pirate licence, that went quite smoothly. As one does, the best way to start anything off is with some proper legwork, and when in an harbor city such as Havana, the way you go about it is dive bars and chitchatting with the local populace. After some convincing, some Batista family goons mentioned that the target was actually already outsiide of the city, having touched down to just resupply, and that the only people connected to the case are the Horizion team of writers, but they don't know where they are in the city. Luckily, two conjurers are on board, and with spirit searches, they manage to pin down the team as being nearby San Salvador, in the Old Havana neighborhood. Some more negotiations with the locals to get a cocotaxi, and there they go to the "nicer" part of the city.
The Run
Once outside the building where the Horizon writing team was sitting in, the team had to get the informations contained within. Sending spirits, infiltrating the cyborg, bribery, even kicking down the door toting iron, are all approaches that are pondered upon, but in the end it is decided to use magic to thoroughly buff a flyspy and making it invisible, and sending it in. After some great sneaking by the user, they figure out that the writers are in full damage control, talking about having to mend relationships and potentially pay reparations to another corporation, AA level. Next to them, concept art for the thumbnail of the next episode seems to be featuring a large tanker. Using MonaLisa, the team is able to recognize the model, and crossreferencing with AA owned shipping fleets, the likeliest suspect becomes Maersk, who will, in a few days, move large amounts of yellowcake through the Atlantic, to land in Northern Florida in the CAS, going right through the upper bits of the Bermuda Triangle.
With the target of the next exploit of the Jaloque clear, the team gets moving, having to reach it before the pirate superstar does. Using the extensive stealth capabilities of NSH's boat, they manage to remain entirely out of the boarding action where the target goes and claims the booty of the Maersk vessel, with the plan being boarding the pirate vessel on the way back, finding the idea of stealing what was just stolen quite humiliating, especially if the captain is taken alive and made to look utter incompetent in the ensuing fight.
Utilizing Brunhilde's extensive underwater mobility mods, the team manages to send a corpse spirit, the cyborg herself and Star on top of the enemy vessel, where they ambush the superstar, who for lack of better words was aurafarming on the dock. The scrap that ensues is brutal, with the mysad Jaloque managing to not be dropped in the ambush strike, and the rigger piloting her vessel sending some pinpoint sniper rifle onto the interlopers, but after some bitter melee, the runners manage to secure the vessel...except that apparently the radioactive yellowcake being transported, or maybe all the spells unleashed in the fight, seem to grab the attention of some wild water spirits inhabiting the region. When faced with the question whether to stick to the original plan and start transporting the radioactive ore with them on the wavecutter they used to come here and potentially having to square off with the wrath of those spirits, or to just leave, the team chooses the latter, considering their exploits sufficient to meet run parameters.
Aftermath
Jaloque is thoroughly tarred and feathered, making her Havana's biggest clown for the months to come, and making the plans for a third season and a prequel spinoff die in the pre-production phase. Maersk and Horizon settle this little bout behind closed doors, as the cargo that they were supposed to be freed off only to see returned a few days later is instead in the depths of the Atlantic, in what was likely a very uncomfortable conference call. The Johnson is quite pleased
