Summary
A pretty simple street level kind of gig, demonstrating the merits of a good plan, a well coordinated team, and why drugs are not ok, kids.
Maybe without it there would have been a number of other people still alive tonight. Then again, gangers tend to not live that long anyways.
Background
Iktomi is a decker, and deckers tend to get into all sorts of petty feuds over the matrix. Sometimes, this goes a bit too far in one direction or another. Like a young orc decker getting mugged on one of his rare trips outside of the house and having his cyberdeck in particular stolen. He could kinda tell it wasn't a matter of finances and meant to be a matrix troll slight when he realized they JUST took his deck, and with that he had to set about looking for people to get it back. A friend of his recommended he use the Shadowhaven network, so he gave it a try and put up a pinned message on the BBS hoping to get a few bites.
The Meet
And get a few bites he did. Colcannon, your average normal troll adept muscle, Bumble who was a walking contradiction of incredibly sneaky and incredibly strong, Tsarina who was an innocent looking girl with a lot more venom than one would expect, and finally Augur who served as their eyes into the unknown and a bodysnatcher. A pretty solid team for what was essentially a counter hit. The group met with Iktomi at the Big Rhino to discuss matters, and they got some small bits of info on who had actually done it - the Trogs, a group that Tsarina and Colcannon could kind of recognize but not really as being an OU gang. The job was simply to retrieve the deck (and most likely its electronics due to them probably gutting the poor thing) and bring it back to Iktomi, however they could. He initially offered 6000 a head for the job, but Tsarina thought that this was really underselling them and the man was desperate, so he doubled that up for the group to 12k a head. After that and passing contact info and model data so they could do the job, the team was set loose
The Plan
The team did some initial scouting for the symbols of the gang (a jolly roger with wrenches instead of femur bones under the skull) through contacts and some good ol fashioned intimidation, and tracked them down to a garage/compound in the lower levels of the OU. Scouting the place via drone revealed that there was a lot of security up front, but not a lot in the back. Augur and Bumble worked to do an initial break in, but found there were too many gangers in too many places. They needed a distraction.
Colcannon offered to be a distraction by walking up to the gate and demanding the gang return a car that she did not own.
This gave Tsarina time to prepare her preparations before coming up with Col, just before the gangers pressed the Fomori too hard and insulted her.
The Run
It is a mistake to press a troll adept who is very strong and supported by 2 other main combatants. To say that the opposition were overwhelmed quickly would be an understatement. A number of swift arrows, DMSO poisoning, the Comet Spell, Lightning Bolts, and good old fashioned kicks made short work of the gang members, and the team quickly dealt with the stragglers who lost much of the fight they had in them at the sight. Augur was...fucking appalled by the barbaric murder the group was responsible for, but it gave them some time to do the job. Augur found the deck, Bumble got the scattered parts, and Tsarina worked on clearing signatures. It was about 10 minutes later the gang heard distant police sirens and made their way out, prize in hand.
