Ajay Varma, is an Indian, born in a middle-class family, in Seattle to immigrant parents. During high school, Ajay was a victim of constant physical and psychological bullying, possibly due to being a nerd, possibly due to sucking at sports. The reasons were too many. Oddly, all the beatings he received from the bullies seemed to have toughened him up a bit.
Ajay was gifted when it came to computers and fiddling with the matrix. In fact, his parents and his school was proud of. Despite his fantastic scores and being the valedictorian, Ajay never attended college after graduating school. Something went wrong, when it came to his career choices. He eventually got entangled with a decker movement called “The Watchers”. Initially ignored by his family as some new obsession, things got out of control when he got involved in a few minor cybercrimes. Nedless to say his parents' disappointment knew no bounds. One night an argument broke out among him and his parents while on the highway. The car’s controls were set to manual and things didn’t go too well when they lost control and hit a truck head on.
Ajay’s parents died in the crash and he lost his right arm, which was replaced by a cyber arm. Frustrated and with no one to blame, he spent close to a year in depression. Unable to pay his house’s mortgage, he soon had to move out and fend for himself. Eventually, with support from the decker movement, he got back on his feet. But in the process he made a few mistakes which pissed off some wrong people. Over the course of a year, members of "The Watchers" seem to mysteriously show up dead in their apartment. Sometimes their brains were scrambled with biofeedback, sometimes they died from heart attacks and sometimes people would just go missing. Somebody was hunting them down one by one. Panicked, Ajay got even more involved in the shadows, doing jobs to rack up enough favors to finally wipe out his SIN. Ajay liquidated all his family’s assets and took up shadowrunning as a full time career, what other choice did he have. Matrix was his life and there was something that was killing his gang buddies. Things have been peaceful since he erased his identity, running pays well, but he knows the unseen enemy is out there...watching.

* ''Flashbacks II:'' Ajay is terrified of high speed on the road, due to the accident that resulted in his parent's deaths and Ajay losing his right arm. When driving himself, Ajay will alway drive slow, even on the highway. If forced into a high speed car chase, expect him to scream like a girl then get temporarily paralyzed from fear.
