Summary

Black Lotus, a name she chose because she liked the contrat between the whitest flower and the darkest color, is a con artist who specializes in schemes that involve trying to lure in people with her appearance, but has basically done it all, from financial crimes to framings to blackmailing. She is also a competent black mage, specializing in the "social" spells, used either as a backup strategy if talking won't cut it, or to pull her weight when there is a team involved and a bit of scouting or help when bullets start flying is needed.

Goals

As most mages of the black tradition, she craves more. Magical power, wealth, pleasure, she wants it all. One thing most don't care for but she does is the suffering of her enemies: if they die, it's good, if they die screaming, it's better.

Background

The life of the little Gertrude (yes, that's her actual name and yes, she hates it) was never the best, but neither the worst, by a long shot. Her parents were not the richest, with the father working as a factory worker for some shitty A grade corp and the mother being a SINless that made a living harvesting reagents for mages far more powerful then her, but Lotus never went to bed hungry, if you know what I mean.

Her life started to look a bit brighter when she was 13, and discovered that she was magical enough to be a true mage, not only an aspected one. This was a turning point, and she started ignoring traditional school to study the shamanic lore most dryads refer to, and becoming a good doer in that criminal hellhole that was Everett.

For the first times the thing kinda worked, with her magic and natural charme always being used for free or for a good cause. But then, she discovered the reality of shadowrunners, and millions of nuyen they make with a single job

The first time was at 17, her first run: a simple job, meet up with two other dudes from the hood, enter this abandoned car shop, get the stash of coke some lowlife ganger hid inside, and get out. Easy. What they didn't knew was that inside the building there was a guard, another ganger, the same age as her. She tried to seduce him to let the others do the stealing, and it worked, for the most part. But for one split second, the guard turned back, and saw the other team members. It was a matter of an instant, he was already pulling out his gun, and Lotus had to save their lifes, so she cast flamethrower against him, driving him to the ground screaming in agony. Those screams didn't scare her tho, they were music for her ears. She felt alive, she felt powerful! And the more powerful she felt, the stronger her magic became! It quickly became a vicious cycle of sadism and manipulation that drove her to seek the mysteries of the Black Magic

Lotus' already manifest sociopathic tendencies sharpened again at the age of 24, when she got infected by accidentaly ingesting bodily fluids of a banshee, turning into a banshee herself. Now her metamorphosis to a new person complete, the last step was leaving the slums and going to live in the downtown. It took Lotus no time to find a rich wageslave, seduce him and going to live rent free in a nice house for all the time she wanted

• Black Lotus not only is good looking and a smooth talker, but she has honed her skills to an astounding degree, appearing almost otherwortly to most

• Well, she is a dryad, so her incredible grace is innate

Infected (Banshee)

• The infection with the HMHVV Strain I was for Black Lotus almost a blessing. For most the idea of needing to feed on others would be terrible, but given her sociopathic tendencies she managed to find the good in an even sharper charisma and natural immortality. The only thing that bugs her is not being able to enjoy a good sunbath

Negative

Combat Paralysis

• For someone so used to talking their way out of troubles, getting shot at can be pretty traumatic

Did You Just Call Me Dumb?

• Black Lotus is really good at making you like her, but if she doesn't like you, you'll sure as hell notice it

Low Pain Tollerance

• There are runners capable of ignoring their nasty looking bullet wound in the chest spewing blood everywhere. Black Lotus is not one of them

Appearance

Black Lotus is a 1,54 m ('5''1) tall dryad woman, with a slender frame carefully kept with gym workouts. One of the more striking features is the incredibly pale skin, created by the combination of an already pale skin and the HMHVV virus. Her face is almost perfect, sporting wide, grey eyes and sharp but not excessive cheekbones.

Clothing

As for style, given the chance, she'll go for a more goth vibe, focusing on black and red clothing, and keeping the hair in a comfortable short but hip cut, but given the nature of her role, she has absolutely no problems putting on all sorts of high end fashion dresses, more masculine coded but still rich looking shirts, punker jeans, burkas or whatever the job requires

When she uses the matrix, her persona is an almost one on one copy of the real thing, what is the need of making a fake beautiful avatar when the real you is just as gorgeous?
