Summary

Minamoto "Red Wraith" Kuniko is a human of asian descent, who was once a promising candidate to become a Red Samurai, but was betrayed and framed by envious members among Blue Samurai. With her honor shattered, and her chance of ascension to full Red Samurai status denied, she was left no other choice but to join the shadows instead. Strongly adhering to the honorable conduct of a samurai's code (particularly the Path of the Ronin), she is well suited for a Shadowrunner's path as a Hooder.

Goals

Serve the shadow community, act with honor and compassion, and uphold the heroic vision of a Red Samurai to the downtrodden and those in need. It is conceivable that she may be a strong candidate to be a hero for the City Watch, if she ever meets them.

Background

Minamoto Kuniko was created as a prototype test subject by a Yamatetsu facility in Japan on February 14th, 2061. She was originally created as the result of genetic alterations and enhancements to improve a human's overall efficiency and longevity, with the intent of forging a new type of super soldier for Yamatetsu (who would later become EVO). Of many test subjects that were attempted to be created through this process, Minamoto was one of the only few who were successful when 'born', surviving the alterations. However, during the instability of Yamatetsu's hierarchy in 2065-2066 (before becoming EVO), agents from Renraku were able to spy and gain information about Yamatetsu's super soldier projects, including the successful creation of Minamoto.

Realizing the potential it could have for their elite Red Samurai ranks, and the fact Minamoto was traditionally japanese, Renraku hired shadowrunners to capture her, along with a copy of all data of the project, and to simultaneously wipe out that information from Yamatetsu's data files. Once in Renraku's hands, Minamoto was adopted as one of their own, to explore her potential as a super soldier. Over the years she had shown great promise as a warrior, and since Renraku took care of her more amiably than Yamatetsu (now EVO) ever did, she felt as if she was treated as an actual person, and less of a lab rat. She was slowly building her way up to be a perfect candidate to become a Red Samurai, but unfortunately, her destiny took a sudden sharp, darker turn with the existence of Blue Samurai coming into play.

She was stationed at Australia for her final sequence of trials and training before she would be fully worthy of becoming a Red Samurai, though being placed there meant she would encounter ...and eventually learn the cold truth herself of the dark rivalry between the Red and Blue Samurai groups. During her training, she would work alongside other candidates, including those who would become Blue Samurai. However, her performance in her tasks stirred jealousy, envy, and suspicion among the Blue Samurai in general, and many deemed her as potential competition between the Red and Blue's unhealthy rivalry. This led to a group of Blue Samurai entering a shadowy operation, looking for ways to bring her down, and shame her in ways that would deny her honor to ascend into full Red Samurai status. As they researched more about her, they learned her origins from EVO, and sought to betray and frame her.

The group of Blue Samurai got into subtle contact with EVO, and arranged a deal to get rid of Minamoto, to return her back to EVO's grasp. EVO, thrilled by this, hired cold-hearted shadowrunners to conduct an operation that would remove Minamoto from Renraku, and stop any chance of her ascending into a full Red Samurai. The Shadowrunners kidnapped Minamoto, drugged her, and used biometric eye scans and fingerprints from her as 'proof' of her committing unspeakable acts of dishonor, then submitted information of these false acts to Renraku. With a highly professional decker among the runner group, all of their tracks were covered, and data was placed exactly as intended to ensure that Minamoto could never prove herself innocent....at least not for a while.

With the stage set, Minamoto was not only returned to EVO by the runner team to Seattle, but Renraku now deemed Minamoto as unworthy to become Red Samurai, thanks to the carefully planned framing attempt succeeding. Once Minamoto recuperated from the drugging effects though, she was able to escape EVO's clutches, thanks to her prior training as a Red Samurai candidate. She had attempted to contact her superiors at Renraku, but quickly learned the horrifying truth of what had happened. She had eventually learned it was Blue Samurai interference that orchestrated this mess due to their jealousy over her, fueled further by their intense rivalry... yet she was powerless to do anything about it. Enraged, her greatest honor had been stolen from her, and she believed that the rivalry itself between the Red and Blues had poisoned Renraku at its core.

With nowhere else left to go, it left her no other choice but to join the shadows herself. Using whatever funds and resources left she had available, she would organize herself to take up arms for survival on the streets. As she has a Red Samurai upbringing, she maintains a great deal of inspiration from the ideals of a Red Samurai, even though she was never able to officially become one herself. Using her training as a shadowrunner, this is what led her to taking up the runner name called 'Red Wraith'.

Prototype Transhuman : Red Wraith was originally a super soldier experiment for Yamatetsu (now EVO). Ever since she escaped their captivity, they are seeking her out.

Negative

Code of Honor (Path of the Samurai) : Having been a Red Samurai trainee, Red Wraith strongly respects the honorable samurai code, and acts with compassion and grace at all times when afforded. It's the guideline for her morality, and as such, the one thing that helps maintain her humanity. In particular, due to her being honorbound as a shadowrunner, and straying away from corporate law, she follows the Path of the Ronin. This means her personal compassion and feelings override the seven virtues of the samurai's path.

Distinctive Style : She is alarmingly similar to a Red Samurai in her style of attire, her combat skills, and her moral code. This could possibly draw some attention, whether good or bad.

Minamoto "Red Wraith" Kuniko is a human female of asian descent. She stands at 5'7 ft with a slender and lean build. Her hair is shoulder length, with the color of light brunette, and she has striking blue eyes, along with fair skin. She appears normal on the surface, but she is chromed in a more subtle way, favoring synthetic limbs, with improved synthskin.

Clothing

She typically wears an elegant, high fashion cloak that conceals her crimson garbed attire, which is strikingly similar to a Red Samurai's motif. Though augmented by cyberware and genetic experimentation, her body appears normal on the surface.
