For my runs, content advisories for the usual shadowrun themes (e.g. violence, drug use, corporate dystopias) are assumed to be in effect by default. If there is the potential for content that goes beyond these, or having them included in greater focus, I will try to include a content warning up-front in the run listing. If you want to apply for a run, but are concerned about any of the associated themes or content warnings, feel free to DM me for further information.

GM Style

I run games like they are cinematic experiences. I love it when players describe their actions in detail so the entire group can get a good visual of the action. For other scenes, I include cuts away from scenes during dramatic moments to add a level of suspense as well as give players time to think. Montages, villainous monologues, and other cinematic devices will be used. To me, roleplaying is about the characters growing due to the circumstances of their situation. I want your character’s personal drama to complicate things, and I am open to players selected sending me aspects, or complications, of their character’s lives they would like to have brief interludes to during the run.

If a game is labeled Pink Mohawk, or Black Trenchcoat, I will expect the players to assist in maintaining that theme.

Runner Selection

I will select runners based on the following criteria, in this order:

  • RP prompt
  • Background
  • Archetype (sometimes having a specific kind of character is needed, or needs to be avoided, to make the story good)
  • New Players
  • Characters who haven’t been on a run recently
  • New Characters

Run Content

For my runs, content advisories for the usual Shadowrun themes (e.g. violence, drug use, corporate dystopias) are assumed to be in effect by default. If there is the potential for content that goes beyond these, or having them included in greater focus, I will try to include a content warning up-front in the run listing. If you want to apply for a run, but are concerned about any of the associated themes or content warnings, feel free to DM me for further information.

  • My runs will tend towards a gritter, more heavy tone, even if the action sequences might be a bit over the top. However, scenes that focus on humor, or warm the heart will also make appearances as is appropriate to the setting.
  • There will be no sexual violence during my games.
  • Racism, Classism, and the general bigotry of the Sixth World will be represented. If a run will be focused on these subjects and not simply show it in the periphery, I will include such in the Run Announcement.
  • I will always alter the scenes I run to ensure all players are comfortable with the content. I encourage the use of the “Stop Light” System to inform me if descriptions are making you uncomfortable.
  • I do not route against the players, nor do I ever attempt to kill them. I will make things intentionally difficult, bar your path with obstacles to be overcome, or lead you astray with deadends and red herrings. Sometimes bad things will happen to your characters, things that may alter their lives, their bodies, or their personal paradigm. I will speak to the players either before, if the incident is planned, or immediately afterward if it was improvised.
  • If I do not know a rule, I will make a call and keep the game moving. I will come back to the rule when I am not running a game and move forward with the rule in subsequent sessions. I will not argue rules during a game.

That being said, I will always choose an interesting event, situation, or conversation over rules, and if needed will throw the rules out to keep the game fun for everyone.

On Burning Edge

I rarely kill characters, as I feel that most characters still have room to expand and grow. A character who burns edge will always survive in my runs. If what happens occurs organically at the table, great. If not, we will work on it together after the run, but it will always be thematically appropriate for the situation and be something that will add dynamics to the character, not an impossible hindrance.

  • If you feel your character's story is over and want your character to die, let me know why and how before a run, and I will work with you on it.
