Summary

Basic Info

Yokai is all-round mage good for combat or support. He can cast support spells as well as summon spirits. He can assense, but cannot astrally project.

Appearance and Style

• Meat: Yokai is a tall Oni, with red skin, yellow eyes, prominent tusks and horns. He styles his hair in a back-brushed manner and has a bad habit of chewing on toothpicks. He almost always dresses in fashionable clothing, which are often armored underneath.

Background

Backstory

- Jubei was born to human parents. His parents were wagelsaves at a small commlink assembly plant.

- Jubei manifested magic when he hit puberty and at the behest of his father tried to live a clean life, by applying to white collared wage-mage jobs in various japanocorps. Unfortunately he was turned down at every job interview, not because of his lack of skills but simply because of his looks. Disheartened, Jubei started doing odd jobs. Like many of the unemployed youth (especially one with the rare gift of magic) Jubei found himself in a gang and eventually into the Yakuza, who were impressed with his magical prowess and allowed him into their circle.

- Jubei served the Yakuza for sometime (against the wishes of his family), until a job against MCT went south (or so he thought). The corp was hot on his tail and he had to pull in all sources to burn in SIN and flee Japan before MCT could trace him. Jubei took asylum in Seattle, until he can sort the mess back home. For all he knows his family thinks he's dead. However, with time rumors reached his ears that the botched job was planned and it was rigged to fail from the beginning. Whether or not these rumors are true and he had been set up is yet to be found out. Thankfully, the yaks have a strong presence in Seattle and he can get a head start on this from where he is.

- But a man's gotta eat and he'll have to earn the money through shadowrunning. The process isnt wholly unknown to him, he'll just be more of a freelancer than tied to a syndicate. Speaking of syndicates Jubei feels a whole lot less warmer about the Yaks now than he did back then. He just cannot trust a syndicate who are known to screw over metahumans on a regular basis and if the rumors are true, screwed over Jubei big time.

- Yokai is a bit of an asshole and dabbles in forbidden magic. Instead of picking up Shinto values that most of Japanese mages do, he sought out a witch and practising magic that benefits himself above all. For in a world of cutthroats, why should he be a saint?
