Summary

The team stages an utterly silent theft of a length of fabric native of Asamando for a client who wanted it returned to their culture.

Also Fish and Chips Were Had.

Background

The runners are generally doing their normal Monday afternoon routines when their Fixers contact them about a job - across 'the pond' that is the Atlantic in order to travel to London and stage a raid on the British Museam.

The Meet

The team meets in a small bar in Puyallup - after exchanging pleasantries and such, the team heads in. Wrath and Sam share some verbal barbs for a moment given their differences in 'loud vs. quiet', but head into the meeting with the Johnson. The J wants us to steal some artifacts from the British Museum that are specific to her home in Asamando. In specific, a piece of Kente Fabric which was special to her homeland. The job pays 10k each, though Wrath declines and offers to work for free.

The Johnson has smuggling contacts to get the team there illegally without much issue.

The Plan

  • Scout the Museum
  • Determine specific security on item
  • Determine infil route - likely through Warrens under London
  • Plan A: Sneak in, steal, sneak out
  • Plan B: Create distraction near one of the high value targets in the Museum in order to distract from actual goal
  • Plan C: Let Wrath fuck things up

The Run

Travel:

  • The team is "shipped" to the east coast via shipping container, and then shipped overseas via boat to the UK. Samael is miserable for all of it. Wrath spends the time blasting trog music and Chance does boredom matrix searches. He gains some blackmail data on one of the local professors working within the Museum.
  • The team hits a put in Hammersmith that Sam knows, getting Indian food and chutney-grilled-cheese sandwhiches

Scouting the Museum:

  • Chance slips into the Host in order to get an idea on local security information. He spoofs the scanners so that they ignore Wrath and Sam who slip in to do some physical recon.
  • Samael, being a UK national, just swaps to his real SIN and takes a tour of the Museum.
  • Wrath notes: F12 Ward with an Alarm Ward. If we enter via tunnel, it should bypass the ward.
  • Samael notes: Individual display case notes - Alarmed, reinforced security glass, host controlled lock, trip beam emitters inside the box. Item sits on top of a pressure pad.
  • Samael notes: visual confirmation of security guards. FBA, Screechers, etc.
  • Chance notes: finds tunnel map which should, after some exploring or digging, get us into the underground warrens of the Museum

Stealing the Kente Fabric:

  • Chance sets himself up in the Host to be able to provide matrix overwatch
  • Wraith summons a F6 Spirt of Man with Movement, Innate Spell: Invisibility, and Psychokinesis
  • Samael finds them an entrance into the underground tunnels near the Museum
  • The team encounters a small pack of grendels on their way through the tunnels but Wrath Mob Minds them into submission.
  • They find a space to tunnel through and Wrath, with Sam's helps, makes short work of the pickaxing.
  • Samael ninjas his way through the place, thanks to the spirit powers and movement.
  • Chance gets the display case open, while Sam puts small mirrors in place to block the lasers
  • Thanks to the movement power, Sam is able to handily swap the cloth out for a jacket from the gift shop. And a Santa Hat
  • They wrap the cloth in a waterproof duffel bag, and slip back out through the tunnels

Aftermath

Without a single alarm raised, the team exfils silently. In the morning, some museum guard or museum go-oer points out that the placard for a length of Kente Fabric doesn't match the Sid Vicious Leather Jacket on display.

Samael - Always good to see the old home town, and yet all it does is bring to mind that I must find their killers. I must. I finally have a trail worth following and I will follow that road until it ends. Chance remains one of the stronger deckers I've seen, and by far one of the more professional, despite his drug use. I suppose I have little stone to throw there. Wrath, on the other hand... I do not know what to make of Wrath. At least they'd sense enough to stick to the plan.

Chance Well, I did it. I finally left the UCAS for something. Not too bad! I could live over there. That fuckin' beeer. Anyway that Museum was chill. I gotta work on my EWar in the hosts though, I got week links. Maybe time to loot at gettin' a cerebellum job too. Decent mage, quiet, mouthy. I'm into it. Sam's always alright. Loosening up a lil too.
