Character Information

Summary

Dani California was born to Tim and Cheri Davies in Mississippi. Her mother was an activist, constantly getting arrested in protests. Her father was a Lone Star cop, whose career was dragged down by her mother's ambitions. The household was always tense with arguments, she was, after all, unplanned but Tim had enough of a sense of honor to marry Cheri when she got knocked up. Tim often urged Cheri to become a politician and work within the system to change things.

Cheri's mindset started to rub off on Tim and he started to question why Lone Star was deploying in certain communities more than others. Why orks and trolls got beat down but humans just got hit with a taser. Tim started D.A.R.E. like programs in his spare time in lower income areas to try and help things. He would often collaborate reports of police brutality for citizens pushing lawsuits, crossing the thin blue line. The household finally had an uneasy peace.

That all changed in Dani's senior high of High School. Her father was gunned down by runners, at least, that's what the official record says. The story told at his funeral, of a kami taking Troll ripping people apart with Cyberspurs and how her father hold the line so others could run way didn't add up. It wouldn't have been an open casket if that happened. Still, she took her father's death benefit and used it to go to school in the Cali Free State to try to get away. But, throughout her Freshman year, she was deeply hurt by her father's death and started taking drugs to deal with her deep depression and mourning. Sometimes, she would go to the range and use her father's gun to try to connect with him, but it wasn't the same. She regretted telling lies to him to sneak out at night and go to wild parties. She wanted to admit that she used his stories to sneak into bars better. She just wanted to admit everything and say she was sorry.

Her drug habits and questions lead her deeper into anarchist circles and to fewer classes. She read things that empowered and enlighten her, but she wanted to take direct action now. The Cali Free State was so much better than Alabama. She found herself agreeing to help attack a Lone Star offline database to find an answer. The Star's resistance was too much and she dropped her weapons. Not before geeking a few Lone Star guards. She was arrested and charged, with many people awaiting her execution. Luckily, a Seattle fixer, also an anarchist, saw value in those captured and arranged for them to be busted out of the jail in Alabama. Priest also took a personal liking to Dani and didn't want to see her die that young. Sadly, Lone Star doesn't take kindly to its offers getting geeked and offered a 25,000 nuyen reward for Dani California, dead or alive.

Goals

• Somehow rid herself of his Criminal SIN and Wanted Status from the CAS.

• Slot with corps.

• Figure out if Lone Star ordered the killing of her father.

• Marry and Retire in the Cali Free State with Priest.
