Character Information

Summary

A former DocWagon Paramedic, Edward “Hounddog” Forrest is a street shaman of you guessed it, Dog, and a rather strange fellow. Known for his skills and technically on 'leave' from DocWagon so he can brush up on his hand to hand combat skills and gunplay, he's reasonably sure that that's just a bunch of red tape to get him out without giving him the proper retirement pay or stipend.

Goals

-Make Money and a Comfortable Living

-Make a name for himself as a runner.

-Meet the real actual Elvis. If Dragons and Elves can exist, Elvis can be not dead.

-Help tend the needy where he can, with the skills he's naturally got.

-Learn Karate and Judo, because Elvis reportedly knew them.

Background

Edward 'Eddie' Forrest was born on March 5th, 2054 to Margret and Daniel Forrest, in Yesterday Springs, Texas, CAS; but you'd think from the way he acted and the way his community existed, it was closer to him having born on March 5th, 1954.

You see, Yesterday Springs, and its surrounding countryside, were owned and operated by the Forrest-Springs Corporation. Part planned community, part 'renaissance style' theme park but set in the mid-century USA, and part tourist trap, it had existed nearly fifty years by the time he had been born, and despite it's facade it even had a modern hospital when he was born.

Yesterday Springs was a major destination, and popular with those around Lubbock, Texas, CAS, but with tourists checking it out from all over the world, and it made more than enough profits from its operation that inevitably, ARES Corporation, with its love for 'classic Americana' and its branding, bought up the Forrest-Springs Corp and a bit more of the surrounding land. It kept the management, but folded it into the Ares Corp and things went from a bit of voluntary fun, theme park rides, and classic music, and films to a bit stricter adherence of things and keeping 'Kayfabe' if one was an actor or non-executive worker for the Park itself.

It was in this environment, stuck pretending to be in the 1950s and early 1960s style America, that Eddie grew up, insulated from some of the stupider policies intended to keep the kayfabe, but none the less finding that when he visited Lubbock with his parents he was made fun of, with the favorite insult being lobbed by the kids of Lubbock to him – Chrononaut, implying he was some time lost person from the past.

So to say that he was lonely as a child was no surprise. Outsider children, even others whom were the children of Ares Corp's general employees, thought him weird for liking this 'old timey music', and not having heard the real stuff. Hadn't he even heard of Trog Rock? The kids of the performers for the park meanwhile treated him like he thought he was better than them.

It was after being hurled by a troll teenager across one of the courtyards in the park after having asked,

“What's a Trog?” that he first heard the howl of Dog. As he felt the urge to cry from the pain and the shame of being thrown like that, as well as the group the Troll was with calling him a little bigot, he heard it being played over one of the park's many intercoms which despite being perfectly modern were overhauled to look like radios from the era.

It was a song, he had heard many times before, Elvis Presley's 'Hound Dog', and yet it sounded from a voice that sounded like a dog's howl and the voice of Elvis at the same time.

Time moved on, and he became more confident in who he was. He studied with the local hospital and he studied the paths that Dog guided him on, and inevitably found himself signing up to work for Docwagon after he was given the choice to do that or do like his parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents, living in a past they'd never truly have back.

In the seven years he worked for Docwagon, he became very skilled in his work as a paramedic, but after an incident where he lost focus and ended up getting one of his co-workers, the Captain's of the squad's lover in fact, killed? He found himself on limited hours, then none at all – with the claim that he needed to brush up on his skills.

Despite having a trust fund guided monthly stipend that pays for his apartment, it's become abundantly clear he isn't going to win this fight to get his hours back, and if he wants to be able to do more than just barely trudge on by, he's going to have to dip his head into Shadowrunning once again, though this time as a full time gig.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Bilingual and Linguist - Edward was raised to be bilingual from an early age, and spent his first 18 years living in and around a theme park which had a large smattering of people. By natural coincidence or luck, he picked up bits of many languages and learned that he could pick up more if he simply focused on it.

Trust Fund - His parents are still alive, and have a significant nest egg from the family corporation being bought out by Ares when he was young. As such, he doesn't really have to worry about money so long as he doesn't somehow alienate his parents.

Mentor Spirit (Dog) - He is a follower of dog. Loyal and true. He can't say that he's necessarily gotten help where he needed it from his mentor, but he none the less appreciates the help and occasional companionship that Dog has provided him through his life.

Negative

Distinctive Style - With leather jackets, slicked back greased up pompadour hair styles, and clothes that look like they're out of historical trideos of the 1950s, Hounddog sticks out like a sour thumb.

SINner (Ares Corporate) - He certainly won't reveal it if he can, because he's not got an immense amount of loyalty to the corp, but he is technically a citizen of Ares Macrotechnologies.

Appearance

A tall (for a human) man with broad shoulders, cold grey-blue eyes, and pale skin, Eddie “Hound Dog” Forrest is a man who could probably merge into the crowd of his metatypeeasily if not for his distinctive sense of style. Always making sure to stay clean shaven, and using a considerable amount of hair styling products, he has worn his hair in aPompadour since he was 13 years old.

Clothing

His favored clothes when off duty of Doc Wagon tend to be 1950's style slacks, dress shoes and a nice collared or hawaiian shirt, or a pairof jeans, boots, white t-shirt and leather jacket.

Matrix Persona

Alternates between Elvis in a Doctor's Coat and a Pitbull in a sequined 1970s style Elvis jump suit.
