Faction Information

Summary

Headquartered in DeeCee, but their Lodges are found in major cities and sprawls across the world, the Illuminates of The New Dawn (IoND for short) are a prominent and powerful magical group whose first and foremost priority is lobbying for the New Century Party. They are incredible magical researchers, advancing various fields of arcane study at a breakneck pace, and believe technology must be in combination with magic for a brighter tomorrow, an Awakened tomorrow. Beneath the veil however, the IoND are also opponents of The Black Lodge, manoeuvering through politics with their shadowy hand always in view and ready to fight against their puppeteering.

Goals

  • Have the High Magus, Dr. Rozilyn Hernandez, become President of The United Canadian American States
  • Ensure the New Century Party is in power.
  • Advance magical research by any means necessary.
  • Prevent The Black Lodge from gaining power.
  • Bring back The American Dream through Magocratic Progressivism.

Major Locations

The Grand Lodge, DeeCee - Within DeeCee is the headquarters of the IoND, their largest Lodge, where Dr. Rozilyn Hernandez herself resides. It's the largest hub of membership, and where everything is run. The Magus Council convenes here to talk with her on matters of The IoND.

Allies

The New Century Party - Dr. Rozilyn Hernandez's own party, The New Century Party is less of an ally to the IoND and more a separate branch, but with enough separate members between the two it's put within this category. Pro-Meta, Pro-Magic, though opponents argue Anti-Democratic with their stance on Magocractic Progressivism leaving the little guy not a lot.

Enemies

The Black Lodge - Embedded deep within a shadow war, The Black Lodge and the IoND are surprisingly even enemies, with the IoND often employing Shadowrunners to assist in their rivalry. Rerouting funding, slandering certain cantidates, and various other political methods are well within the standard playbook of this war for control over the UCAS.

Current Status

With the New Century Party winning the mayoral race in Seattle, the Illuminates of The New Dawn have had a good time so far, enjoying an uptick in membership and more respect overall than when more conservative parties are in charge. The exact number of members is debated, weighing on the scales from the IoND not out of the question with their claim of around 1,200~ members, while others say they're only at 700~, a commonly agreed upon value being 750~.

Membership

Becoming a member of the IoND isn't too difficult, requiring a valid SIN alongside paying 200¥ per month in dues to whatever chapter house you may be a part of. Of course, in order to join any part of the IoND outside of the Outer Circle, you must be Awakened and follow the Hermetic tradition. But, if you are not Awakened, and simply want to support the IoND, you are to join the Outer Circle of the local chapter house in your area.

Organisation

The IoND is a very structured organisation, and we'll begin at the top with the High Magus. Rozilyn Hernandez has been the High Magus of the IoND since the very beginning, and it seems it will remain that way, with her running the show and any large changes and actions coming from her. Then, below her are the Magi, the leaders of the various chapter houses across the world for the IoND, mages of notable social, economic, and magical power who run the show for smaller local initiatives and generally keeping the Lodges tidy, keeping magical supplies in check, and so on. Then, you have the Inner Circle, containing all the Awakened members of a chapter house, usually numbering around 10-20 or so per chapter. These members have more benefits from the Lodge, being offered tutorship, fellow mages for rituals, initiations, and so on, alongside being researchers, talismongers, and other magical workers in the Lodge. Last, you have the Outer Circle, which is where all the non-Awakened members of a chapter house are. These people pay dues and are able to access services from their chapter house, but not as many as an Inner Circle member. Most Outer Circle members are political supporters of the New Century Party and IoND.
