Summary
The Klabauterbund unites pirates, corporate enemies and eco-terrorists from the North Sea region under its roof - especially from the North German AGS. Some are critical and even hostile towards modern technology at times and reject augmented reality in any form, for example. It is still debated today whether this is actually a Policlub.
The Klabauterbund is named after the Klabautermann, a type of ship's spirit from the mythology of European sailors in past centuries. According to the Bund’s beliefs, the Klabautermann will return with the Awakening to take revenge for the pollution and exploitation of the seas.
Goals
The Klabauterbund seeks to end corporate dominance and restore metahumanity’s connection to a more natural way of life. Unlike extremist groups like GreenWar, they do not reject modern technology entirely but oppose an over-technologized society that fosters dependence and inequality.
They believe corporations push metahumans into complete dependency, stripping them of autonomy and using them for their own gain. Instead, the Klabauterbund advocates for self-responsibility—people should have control over their own thoughts, actions, and lives, rather than being dictated by corporate systems and artificial convenience.

Background
The Klabauterbund originated from various ecological and eco-anarchist groups formed after the Black Tide of 2011. Many displaced people and dropouts, faced with submerged coastal cities and a devastated Hamburg, saw this as the end of modern civilization. Seeking alternative ways of life, they established communes along the coasts of what is now the North German League, attracting like-minded individuals—anarchists, environmental activists, nature mages, anti-corporate thinkers, and other freethinkers.
These communes promoted self-sufficient, ecological living and the rejection of non-essential technology. After the Crash of 2029, they gained political momentum, but internal diversity soon became apparent. Among them were eco-shamanistic groups who believed Klabautermänner could help repair the damage of the Black Tide—giving the movement its name when the media took notice. At the same time, more radical factions emerged, some engaging in Robin Hood-style piracy or militant actions against corporate pollution.
By 2040, the Klabauterbund, like other hovercraft pirates, carried out targeted raids in Hamburg, prompting the formation of a marine security force that would later become the city's customs and naval protection unit. The Crash of 2064 further reinforced their anti-technology stance. In the chaos following the Matrix collapse, they took full advantage of the situation in the Hamburg harbor. While not as ruthless as the Corsairs, they remain a significant power in Wildost/Hamburg, alongside the Störtebeker’s Heirs and Polish privateer-smugglers.
