Summary
Brook and Chameleon each accept fixer notifications of an opportunity to claim the book item as part of the annual All Hallows scavenger hunt. They meet a Chulos-affiliated curator at the Seattle Art Museum (S.A.M.) and are informed that their item has been taken somewhere upstairs by an intern who has gone AWOL. Something strange is going on up there, and the curator wants them to sort that out while they make the attempt to recover the item they need. They encounter a strange pair of dueling creatures, one shedim-like and one shadow spirit-like, managing to destroy or banish both and resuscitating the mundane intern drowned by The Whistler. The book is successfully retrieved, and the curator offers them a small reward for eliminating The Turner and The Whistler from the European Art Gallery to restore peace once more to the S.A.M. They manage to do all this with minimal damage, despite the dangers and the allure of expensive art with minimal protections from theft. Chameleon finds a potential future art-world contact in the revived intern, and Brook sweeps the intern off her feet - literally - in what might just be a goth girl romance that does not break her heart this time.

"Let's just say our effort to branch out into higher-end security work is proving more trouble than it is worth. We Chulos were hired to help bulk up security for a new exhibit at the S.A.M., coming in from the London Museum. Something about local artists and societal development along the Thames. I don't know anything about that drek. What I do know is that if you want the book for that scavenger hunt, you're going to have to sort out whatever is going on in the fourth floor first. The Meet
After dark, as the last museum-goers are leaving, Chameleon and Song of the Brook decide to carpool to the museum. They park in the garage designated for the museum and make their way into the lobby where an anxious curator awaits them. Koyo Cams greets them and tells them that in order to retrieve their scavenger hunt item, they'll have to find her missing apprentice who last had it somewhere up on the fourth floor. Only something odd is going on up there, with the odd member of staff here and there perhaps absent. Hard to say if they are driven off by the pressures of the job: it sounds like she has lost interns before now. Nonetheless, the runner pair agree to the request and head up stairs to see an intern about a book.

Chameleon: Raven may never forgive me. A gallery full of gorgeous Impressionist art. Disabled and compromised security systems. A pre-existing villain in the form of a malignant spirit to take the heat...and I stole nothing. On the other hand, I learned to trust Brook's judgement and it only cost me 5 nuyen and a bag of soy chips, so there is that. I saved a life. The intern's aura didn't show any sign's of life but the CPR worked! Several minutes of mouth-to-mouth and chest compression made clear that she tastes like cinnamon and cloves and has a very nice chest. I think she 'bats for both teams' so Brook is in luck. Dammit, Young Whistler would've looked awesome on my wall.
