Character Information

Summary

Millie is an Alchemist PharmaSam who uses her body's exceptionally weak constitution resistance to drugs to enable her longer highs on high-quality nephritic screens than would otherwise be possible. Outside of her toolbox of ways to efficiently drug up is a handful of spells meant to augment her role as infiltrator and frontline combatant.

Goals

Short term:

- Continue paying for her illness
- Continue living a comfortable lifestyle
- Get her thrills

Long term:

- Become the greatest runner to ever live

Background

Millie is not, was not, and likely never will be, a natural Runner. She is no spectacular talent, able to weave through the shadows with barely a thought. In fact, she grew up in a perfectly normal wage-slave household. Her father was a manager for Ares Macrotechnology, and her mother was a secretary. They lived a comfortable life, with the only particular problem Millie suffered in her childhood being an autoimmunal disorder that necessitated frequent hospital visits. Luckily, she was covered on the Corporate Insurance. She grew up wanting for little.

That changed, unfortunately, when she was diagnosed for a rare but treatable disorder that wasn't covered in the insurance. The costs for treatment were rather high, due to the difficult-to-synthesize nature of the medicine, and her parents were barely able to support her living. Wick would have gone into the workforce with the rest of her family, but the Ares Biotechnology Division had other ideas--Her physique left her in the unique position of being able to parse through a lot of drugs very quickly with little consequence, so long as she was implanted with the right augments. They agreed to pay for her treatment, if she agreed to accept a Nephritic Screen and test a variety of experimental drugs that they had lined up. Billie, naturally, accepted this deal, and for a while things were good.

A lot of these drugs were combat stims, and the nature of the tests Ares had Millie doing lead to proficiency in combat that otherwise wouldn't be expected of so sickly a girl. In truth, these regular treatments, and the amazing ability of her body while performing them, lead to something of a superhuman syndrome, and she quickly began to believe she could do better than be a test subject. Armed with these beliefs, she brought up the idea of joining CorpSec, although they immediately shot it down; no matter how amazing she felt while on drugs, she was ultimately still a frail, sickly girl.

And for years, this was enough for Millie...Until one day, it wasn't. She didn't break, her parents hadn't died, her world hadn't ended. She just...Decided this life wasn't enough for her. And so she began moonlighting as a catburglar, stealing some of the experimental drugs from the lab in order to fuel her stealth abilities. An infiltrator BTL helped augment her skills, allowing for her to access the ordinarily inaccessible. Ares, for their part, knew exactly what she was doing and allowed it to happen for a while. It gave them excellent field data, and further would place her in debt to them.

When it came time to pay up, however, the debt was crippling, and Millie, already feeling like her life was at a dead end, decided to discard her old life and begin anew in the Shadows.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

I'm built different: Mentor Spirit(Bear), Quick Healer, Tough As Nails(Stun) 3 - Millie is truly very durable to the effects of drugs and many similar effects; on that much, at least, she's not delusional.

Negative

I'm built better: Superhuman Psychosis, Lack of Focus, Poor Self Control(Thrill Seeker) - This has lead Millie to a bit of a reckless streak, as she acts as though she's invincible.

But she's not better: Illness 1, Weak Immune System - Millie is, ultimately, so experienced using these drugs because her system's took weak to reject them. She's not some special case; she's a cripple who was taken advantage of.

Matrix Search Table

Threshold Result
1 Former Corporate SIN with Ares. Seems to have been burned, somehow.
3 Mother and Father still employed by Ares. Went missing after joining a program with the Ares Biotechnology Division.
6 Burned shortly after having left Ares Biotechnology; apparently stole a lot of mil-spec drugs from them in order to perform nightly crimes. It's a wonder she doesn't have a criminal SIN.

Shadow Community Table

Threshold Result
1 Newer runner. Alchemist with a focus on infiltration and frontlining. Usually high on something. Kind of stuck-up.
3 Former Corpo. Doesn't seem to have her heart in it. Kind of arrogant.
5 Crazy bitch thinks she can run the Shadows for fun. Drugs must have gotten to her head.
