Faction Information

Summary

An OU gang that formed in the wake of Halley's Comet by changelings seeking strength in numbers. While the Morlocks still hold onto their original purpose of protecting changelings, especially those with obvious mutations, the gang has turned to a variety of criminal endeavors to keep itself funded and equipped. Protection rackets, drug dealing, and smuggling illicit goods through the OU's tunnels are just some of the ways the Morlocks earn their cred.

Having been forced into the nastier parts of the OU by discrimination, the Morlocks have gained a reputation for being rugged survivalists and maybe just a little bit crazy. Fighting off the various supernatural (and other) threats down below will do that to you...

Goals

  • Create a community for Seattle's changelings.
  • Keep those living in their turf safe.
  • Violently oppose anti-SURGE drekheads.
  • Expand their turf and influence.

Major Locations

Leaders

  • Lagoon - While Lagoon wasn't the Morlock's first (or second) leader, she came out on top of a brief battle for succession that took place after her predecessor, a stony changeling named Balboa, went missing after a bug hunt. She was once a razorgirl running with the Ancients, but SURGEing lead to her losing touch with her elven heritage and untangling herself from the gang during the chaos of the Year of the Comet.
  • Triclops - Lagoon's second-in-command and one of the only people to return from the bug hunt that lead to Balboa going missing. Most of the gang expected Triclops to take over, but he stayed out of the ensuing power struggle entirely. The three-eyed shaman somehow held onto his previous role once the dust settled, acting as Lagoon's adviser and go-between for her and her subordinates.

Background

Despite the best efforts of the UCAS military's Joint Task Force, Lone Star, and the Metroplex Guard to keep the peace in the wake of Halley's Comet, many of Seattle's newly SURGEd changelings still found themselves the victims of violence and abuse at the hands of those who couldn't accept this new form of metahumanity. Changelings with especially exotic, or horrific, appearances were even more likely to be victims of this extreme discrimination, driving many to seek shelter in the Ork Underground. Unfortunately, not all who sought shelter were welcomed with open arms. Many were forced to the fringes by those who already lived in the Underground communities they hoped to join, forced to carve out their own place.

The stronger members of these newly formed communities created ragtag militias to keep themselves safe from gangs hoping to prey on them, anti-SURGE violence, and the supernatural threats lurking deep in the Underground. The Morlocks were one such group, who have expanded by absorbing lesser changeling gangs. Some joined willingly, realizing that they'd better off joining forces, others were forced to give fealty in brutal gang wars. Acceptable losses, in the eyes of the Morlocks, if put them in a better place to secure the future of the Underground's changelings.

Note: Seattle's Morlocks are entirely unrelated to the long-destroyed Miami thrill gang of the same name.

Allies

  • OtherCon

Enemies

  • Humanis, Neo-PD
  • The Morlocks are intensely distrustful of Infected, having had to fight off plenty of hunting packs to keep their communities safe.

Frenemies?

The Morlocks have a rocky relationship with the Skraacha, due to overlapping territory and the Morlocks not trusting the Skraacha to properly look out for changelings. At the same time, they're united in their desire to keep norms and the cops out of the Underground.
