Summary

Meddling in affairs that do not concern you is a recipe for disaster in the shadows. Such was the case for a particular group of up and coming nobodies who fancied themselves as protectors and saviors just for being magically gifted. A smuggler was slighted and robbed, and that simply would not do. So on this night of May 22nd, 2086, 12 aspiring awakened were slaughtered for their hubris.

Background

Pam Muerra is an independent smuggler operating who works with a small network of drivers, faces, and other such deceitful types who can help gangs and syndicates get their goods across borders and through enemy territory where the gang's own might struggle or face a lot of hostility, or if they just want a more subtle delivery. And due to a recent uptick in Gang hostilities, rumors of a possible major conflict erupting in the shadows amongst those in power in Seattle, and everyone trying to up their arsenals in order to keep themselves from a possible extermination, it's a splendid time to be a weapons dealer.

Unfortunately for her driver of the day Jimmy, smaller players in the game don't exactly get involved in the larger politics of the criminal underworld. Some are still happy little cherubs content to cause their own mayhem under their own pretenses as if their little corners of the world are their divine domain. Such is the case with the Sunbeam Sonnets. A small group of alleged hooder types who are more keen on saying they are protecting others and blasting away infected than actually doing hood work. So, when they noticed a strange truck coming in from the East out of the SSC, they got it in their heads to "check it out in case it was a threat."

So they ended up with 4 crates of war supplies and drugs, and Pam ended up fuming and in need of some quick recovery.

The Meet

The meet was nothing spectacular-a collection of four runners with their own specialties who could slaughter a fight if needed were contacted by their fixers and informed of an opportunity to assist in the recovery of these goods. They were instructed to meet at the Daze at 6pm, and arrived to find a bar that was still opening up on a Thursday night with one singular woman waiting at one of the tables. She waved them in, gave them the rundown, and told them simply what the job was: get the goods back by any means and then deliver them to their proper place to clients up in Casino Corner over in Everett.

The original asking price was 10k per head, which Alkali and Pockets managed to raise to 12k, and even secured a deal to help them gather some weapons and drugs she had been trafficking if they so desired. With that settled, the matter of the job proper was underway.

The Plan

Planning was simple. They were given a last known location, a basic inventory and photos, and a means by which to communicate with Pam once the job was done. So the plan is thus simple:

1. Find the whereabouts of the goods

2. get them back, probably killing whoever was responsible

3. Get it delivered in one of the team's vehicles.

The Run

The team had no problem tracking down the crash site, finding wreckage on the side of the road which fit the description of the truck Pam gave and the photograph. Of course, it had been deprived of its cargo and its driver, Jimmy, was currently in twain, but it was the same vehicle. Alkali and Rogozhin worked to track down the exact whereabouts of the cargo, with Alkali thinking back onto his knowledge of criminal power players to figure out who may have been behind this attack. Larger players do not want to interfere with a potential asset, but smaller players who lack the stakes in that race would, and his mind wandered to the Sunbeam Sonnets in the area. The team, with the help of their spirits and Rogozhin's whispering to the departed, tracked the trail back to the warehouse the Sonnets were using as a base.

what followed was a blood bath.

Solitaire and Pockets climbed up to the top of the warehouse as Alkali and Rogozhin (and his pets) positioned at the front. With a swift crack on the astral the ward was broken down, and the team moved in to swiftly dispatch the enemy combatants who were taken by surprise. The team had total control of the situation, leaving a bloody mess in their wake.

Aftermath

Once the Sunbeam Sonnets were cleared out, the team had no problems at all stashing away the goods (with Alkali using catalog to figure out there were a number of depleted uranium rounds that were being transported inside one of the crates) and transporting them to their proper clients: members of the mafia who had no interest in small talk late at night.

As for the Sunbeams?

Well, Rogozhin didn't need to feeds his animals that night at least.

Solitaire - I took the road less traveled and that made for one hell of a grand entrance... and yet. I tire of hunting rabbits. The shades and shadows lurk out of sight and mind... but I will find them.
