Metaplot:The Metroplex Governor Race of '84

Kassandra Hemingway's campaign to become the next Governor of the Seattle Metroplex was dealt a truly fatal blow this morning as senior Republican staffer Henry Choi was killed in a senseless gangland shooting. The Hemingway Campaign was kicking off their Metroplex campaign at their Bellevue District Office where the candidate was live via the Matrix and, for the benefit of the poor SINless, projected via holoprojector. Physically present at the Bellevue campaign launch were three campaign staffers, including top aide Henry Choi. Like Hemmingway, Choi served in the UCAS armed forces and was "a decorated and dedicated father," one campaign source told me, "one that is irreplaceable in our campaign and political family."

Eyewitnesses describe the scene of the attack in harrowing detail. Kassandra Hemmingway was delivering a fiery and impassioned condemnation of the apathy of Metroplex officials, recounting (in obvious emotional pain) the loss of her own husband to gang violence during her time in the Lindstrom administration. Eyewitnesses say there were dozens of people physically present, including a trio of drunk individuals wearing gang colors at the rear of the outdoor assembly. Just as Hemmingway moved to finish her speech a gang of bikers appeared, automatic weapons callously and cruelly firing with abandon into the rear of the crowd. When the three rival gangers were dead the killers raced off, but not before injuring four innocent civilians and fatally injuring Choi in the attack. Knight Errant officers were on the scene but were unable to prevent the attack, or eliminate the perpetrators. Knight Errant public relations were unable to provide comment before Matrix publication of this story.

When the campaign was contacted for comment Kassandra Hemmingway took the call over audible objections from her staffers.

Furious and breathless, her voice betraying her broken heart, Hemmingway promised that "as Governor, this sort of wanton and senseless violence will no longer be tolerated. A Hemmingway Administration will return our Seattle Metroplex to the Great City it was once promised to be. No more thoughts and prayers: only action. Only immediate and dire consequences for those who are hellbent to reduce our city to this utterly intolerable place of fear and ruin. The Metroplex will have its peace."
