Character Information
Summary
Born to corpo parents, Elijah Smithwood showed musical talent from an early age. His parents were quick to feed him to the corporate machine and sent him to a soul-crushing corporate-run music academy, but his true love was the underground rock acts that were starting to go out of style, especially the ones who moonlight as shadowrunners. The spirit of those bands never left his soul, and so he left the daylight world behind and started a new life as a shadowrunner.
Goals
Wants to bring the spirit of rock and rebellion back to the world of shadows.
Background
Whatever happened to the rockers? I remember hearing all about them when I was a kid, in the scene. It's half the reason I even decided to pick up a guitar - it was never enough to just be a star. My heroes were masters of the stage, and they looked like rock gods to me, from the front row. But the real juice was the persona, the lyrics, the drek they got up to on shadowruns - they'd melt our fuckin' faces with songs of rebellion, freedom, and life on the edge! The image of a take-no-shit outsider who gave a loud and proud FUCK YOU to the people in charge of makin' our lives as shit as possible? How could I not become obsessed?
Nobody in that fancy-ass music corp-academy my snobby rich parents so graciously shipped me off to could have ever understood the kind of experience that makes genuine, real art.. Every single day, they'd find some new way to box me in, try to keep me from actually living. "Follow the rules, Eli! Play the notes, Eli! Turn off that noise, Eli!" Yeah, well, fuck 'em! I got the hell out of there as soon as I could. Burnin' my SIN was the best decision I ever made.
So that's it. I'm here to show everybody that the spirit of the rockerboy never died, and I'm gonna live my life to the fuckin' fullest the whole way there. Let's rock!
