Summary
Biggie Beefcake (https://shreloaded.net/wiki/Biggie_Beefcake) has a problem - people are disappearing. The party scampers off to investigate personally.
Background
SINless have been disappearing from the poorer areas of the sprawl. Meanwhile, a new fighting arena has opened that only military members and political elites are allowed to view. Suspicions abound.
Before the run, Conduit spends some time bleeding out of his ears trying to summon spirits. Ka$h Money gets in an argument with her son before school on the way to the meet. Fennec takes her fixer's call while still streaming, playing with her phrasing to chat's amusement. Five'o'Nines had just finished out a marathon of the Godfather movies with her Irish mob buddies (who talked through it the whole time) and an awkward encounter with Dullahan when she got told about the job.
The Meet
Biggie Beefcake calls the runners to meet at the Synthwave - an 80's themed club. Fennec is, of course, absolutely thrilled to visit a place that matches her stream's theme, though she won't show footage of the place until much later.
The big man's concern is that people are disappearing - he's willing to front what cash he can to the runners if they'll determine the cause. They need not even stop it, necessarily. All the same, the party's eager to please and happy to help out a good cause.
Before they leave, Nines spots something concerning - a small child ditching school to hang around a cyberpunk club! Ka$h is forced to make a detour home to stick her son back in school.
The Plan
Legwork begins quickly! Conduit rings up a spirit friend and asks for help finding information. The spirit agrees in exchange for a few comic books - which, naturally, he'll be able to provide sometime soon. Fennec looks into things on the matrix, quickly finding posted numbers for 'Get cash fast' ads. Immediately suspicious that this is related, she notes a number down for the group to look into later.
Conduit goes to a comic store and quickly realizes - this bribe is getting expensive. He considers the best way to steal the magazines, before getting help he didn't ask for from Fennec. Off go the cameras, and the fire alarm is pulled while the mage has a spirit possess his body for the sake of stealing more effectively. Regrettably, after some karmic impact from his earlier summoning attempts, the spirit gets a conscience - and turns to the shopkeeper out in the street to declare that Conduit has been stealing. Ka$hious' quick thinking is enough to save the mage from being taken into jail, as she poses as the neighborhood watch. Nobody's willing to argue with the 12 foot tall woman in the business clothing.
Shenanigans aside, the party settles on a plan: have Ka$hious call in to join the fights while the rest of the party gathers information.
The Run
The party tails Ka$h on her way in, watching and waiting for things to go wrong. Fennec quickly snatches control of the cameras, getting eyes on Republican donors in the stands - and more on the show below. While she steals feeds, Ka$h steps into the arena.
A mechanized cyberbear steps onto the sands, and Ka$h gets into the toughest fistfight of her life. While she trades blows with a bear, her party tries to support. Nines and Conduit's homunculus approach from below, dispatching a pair of guards on the way to the arena floor. As things start to look dire for Ka$h, the homunculus dives in - taking a devastating blow and tumbling to the ground. A volley of Stick'n'Shock from Nines puts the bear to bed, and the party scrambles away, leaving the arena in complete chaos.
Aftermath
Having defeated the bear and gotten some prime footage of some donors enjoying a very unethical sport, the team returns to Biggie Beefcake - who's ecstatic at the results, rewarding the party as best as a poor Uber driver is able.
