Summary

Ex-military that did too many wrong things the right way and right things the wrong way. Back in Seattle to try and rebuild his career after years hiding out in Chicago.

Goals

1. Establish himself in the Seattle shadow scene
2. Reconnect with his friends and foster family from his youth

Background

Eugene was the only child in a lower-middle class family in Renton. His father, Leonard, had a solid job as a beat cop for Lone Star and his mother, Catherine, was a school teacher. When Leonard was killed while on duty by a group of Shadowrunners, his life began to change. Lone Star denied death benefits and Eugene and his mother were forced to move and do the best they could to live off of a teacher's salary. The second tragedy of Eugene's young life struck when his mother took him to the Renraku Arcology mall for his birthday on December 19th, 2059, the day the Arcology shut down. In the panic and crush of people trying to exit, he was separated from his mother. He doesn't know what happened to her but hopes that her death was quick and clean.

Fortunately for Eugene, he was picked up by Seattle Child Protective Services and entered the foster program. He found some amount of stability and connection and was able to forge new bounds and friendships. He despised corporations (especially Renraku) and hated what crime had done to his city and country. With the patriotic fervor found only in starry eyed youth, Eugene enlisted with the UCAS Navy the day after he graduated from High School. While going through Basic Training it was discovered that he was a Physical Adept. He had already earned a Special Operator rating and so the Navy was wise enough to encourage him to continue to follow his desire to become a UCAS Navy SEAL. After several years of training, Eugene first deployed for overseas operations in October of 2069. He joined DEVGRU and spent several years there before being transferred to work with CIA SAC/SOG.

In November of 2079, Eugene found himself facing a Court Martial on charges of Drug Smuggling and murder. While he denied the charges and pled not guilty, the deck was stacked against him and he was quickly convicted and remanded to military prison. Fate smiled on him this time and his path crossed that of Shugga Bear, an anti-government Troll. The two of them managed to avoid an unhappy end and made their escape to Chicago. He made a living doing the one thing he was able, running the shadows.

Now, having finally cleared his name, Eugene has returned to Seattle.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Erased: Spooky earned a criminal record, unfairly he believes, while in the military. He has spent the last few years working to clear his name. While pursuing that goal, he instead was erased from the system.

Negative

No Man Left Behind: Years spent in the UCAS military have ingrained this creed into Spooky's DNA. He doesn't have to like you. He might even hate you. If you're on an op with him, he will do everything in his power to get you home.
