Background

Lanius, formerly known as Songbird, was born and raised in Seattle. She had a troubled childhood, not least helped by her Emerging young. She spent most of her youth getting into trouble and periodically running away from home, until one night, she managed to hack her way into a broadcast of a live Pro Wrestling match. She fell in love at first sight. Immediately after that, she began taking wrestling lessons, and, in a concession to her parents, opera lessons as well. When she was old enough, she was approached by talent scouts for the Canadian-American Pro Wrestling Federation, and her singing abilities and natural charm led to her being branded as a face. She was very successful for about a year, landing several advertising deals. Unfortunately for her, one of those advertising deals was for a small corp being partially backed by the Karatsa-gumi, and it put her in the sights of Cao Yanmei, a wrestler in the Federation who had plans of moving up in the Black Chrysanthemum triad. During a high-profile match, which Songbird was supposed to lose in order to kick off a new storyline, Cao Yanmei broke Songbird's spine, paralyzing her from the waist down. She assumed it was a horrible accident, until her friend Red-Handed Jill overheard a very drunk Yanmei bragging at a bar a few weeks after the incident. After that, Songbird went off the deep end, pushing her PT to the limit to recover as quickly as possible so that she can get her revenge. A year later, she had miraculously recovered just enough to, with the help of drugs, fight in the ring again. The CAPRF spun her return into a revenge plot at her request, and she changed her name to Lanius.
