Summary

A combination of very new and very experienced runners were hired by the Watada-Rengo to break into a Wuxing facility in Auburn and steal data related to the Red Dragon Association, whom the corp recently allied with. The characters were given little time to prep and rushed over to the secure facility to begin a night of old school shadowrunner shenanigans.

Background

The Watada-Rengo are looking for any ammunition to take the rival triads down a peg and the war efforts have gotten to the point of hiring Shadowrunners to infiltrate Wuxing. No one was happy about it, but the money was solid and the team capable enough. Across town "Gutter Inc" was warming up for a run of their own.

The Meet

A very small wageslave bar clearly run by Yaks awaited the team. Yakuza Gaikōkan was brusque and dismissive of the runners as expected, but ultimately did offer them relatively fair compensation and agree to a half up front in escrow arrangement after some tense negotiations.

The Plan

The runners didn't so much have a plan, as a course of action. They scoped out the building, with Koi and Glitch doing some VERY physical old school hacking to get a cable into the building and quickly take over systems and take cameras. Lanky provided cover while Scarecrow and his ally provided buffs and magical invisibility for the team. In a hail mary to try something other than the front door, Lanky threw a horizon boomereye and realized the team could potentially access the roof.

The Run

"Let's hit it from the roof" became the primary notion once the team realized it was a simple maglocked door for security and could if nothing else offer an escape. Scarecrow extended themselves into drake powers to turn the team invisible and fly them to the roof, dropping them off in a camera safe zone that glitch and koi had created while Lanky got geared up to play combat usher.

They realized there was no version of going in that didn't trip a ward and inform Wuxing of the situation, so the gang decided to go in hard. Koi commanding the maglock to go and throwing the door open, Lanky zipping inside and s&s one of the two previously scouted corpsec guards as Scarecrow and Badb took care of watchers and other spirits keeping guard over the upper offices. In short order Lanky and Koi had dropped the guards and Scarecrow made short work of spirit opposition, and cleansing a huge chunk of the ambient mana in the building, throwing off some potential magical responses. Enter Liu Chen, who spits in the face of Drakes and threats, and resists all manner of violence and intimidation until finally being mind controlled into an incredibly pleasant, if dopey, ally for the rest of the run. The team realizes at this point that the security SPIDER has taken over the elevator and is sending a team of Corpsec to the offices to investigate. When the elevator opens, Scarecrows accidentally punches a guard nearly to death and Lanky tosses a Neuro Stun 8 Grenade into the elevator on a wireless timer.

Moments later things heated up as the team coming in from downstairs cleared the elevator and stepped into themselves, kicking the grenade out in the lobby with the first wave of guards and headed up. The team had jumped on top of the elevator in the shaft at this point, leading to glitch getting separated as the Spider tried to crush the team in the elevator shaft.

Most of the team made it to the 4th floor with Lie Chen at this point, with Glitch stuck on 5 and Scarecrow briefly stuck on 4 with lanky winging another Neuro Stun grenade into the hatch that the Spider and most of the remaining corpsec forces were trying to take control from. Ultimately this lead to the other team arriving on the floor with the runners, and quickly getting lightning punched and shot down. The remaining face tried to forcibly negotiate our team into submission, leading to an acid blast almost killing Glitch who refused to divulge the team's job, or be swayed from their parameters. Ultimately the dwarf was quickly rendered unconscious and the Face nearly so. The team found the terminal and narrowly pulled out a search, with all hands helping, Lanky's nearly computer illiterate self pushing down to almost no edge to get the search time down to under HTR's arrival.

Ultimately the team left the opposition runner team in the Wuxing building allowing Liu Chen to claim victory over an invading runner team and land himself a major promotion in Wuxing while our players climbed, dove, flew and were Catsfalled off the roof in rapid succession. A very pink mohawk end to what started as a very black trenchcoat run.

Aftermath

Liu Chen promoted to Head of Security at his Branch. "Gutter Inc" largely dead or in jail. One dead Wuxing guard leaves behind an unhappy family.
