Background

Hui Ying was born to middle class parents in Beijing, 2047. She had a fairly sheltered life, more interested in studying with books and puzzles than anything. She was given training with blades for self defense, and for her burgeoning magical talents.

She was infected during her college days, when she was seduced by a radiant looking man in a club, and taken to a 'hotel' after a lot of drinks... Her parents disowned her, she was no longer their daughter, she was a monster.

Her parents had worked for Wuxing, and she had been spotted during school as a useful security hire. When she approached them, they took pity on her, seeing her potential, with some caveats... She rose through their ranks, eventually being moved to their seattle office as one of the security planners. However, as a mystic adept she is unable to conjure of project, not enabling her to manage everything; her superior, Wei Ling was in charge of security spirits.

She also maintained a good relationship with the local Yellow Lotus Triad, exchanging information for favours and equipment, as 'expense budget', to which a blind eye was turned, knowing it necessary.

When the facility was broken into by shadowrunners, Wei Ling blamed her failing to detect them. She knew the real reason was that his patrols had gaps, but was unable to convince the Branch Manager that he was lying. He also brought up her dealings with the Yellow Lotus, which he himself had greenlit. She was given "voluntary" dismissal, but with this stain on her record, hasn't been able to find more work. The situation has gotten worse as the months went by, and worried about losing access to her cosy life, she decided to take a job she knew would pay...
